Following a Magic game, I politely asked Doug for a few booster packs. He responded rather abruptly that he was busy and I should return later. Anticipating his sometimes playful demeanor, I initially thought he was joking, but his expression quickly indicated otherwise. His tone was quite sharp, and I was surprised by his response. When I lingered, he repeated himself, even more firmly. His behavior was quite inconsiderate, leaving me feeling unwelcome. While I understand that shopkeepers need breaks, assisting me with a small purchase would have only taken a few minutes. đđ

Tl;dr unless youâre trying to have the hostile âsweatyâ gaming experience that has driven away so many people from MTG, donât come here. I came to the Edge of Eternities prerelease with two friends and wonât be coming back. I would NOT come to this store if youâre looking to have a casual or friendly game, if youâre not a cis man, or if you intend on trying to be part of a community. Iâve been playing the game for over 20 years and it was one of the more hostile environments - guys I played against wouldnât even answer the question âhow are you doing?â and just proceeded to shuffle and stonewall me. The person working the front desk blew off my new friend when he was trying to ask about singles. I was scolded for asking about what tables I could sit at. Players bragged about qualifiers and refused to help newer players. I could go on, and on, and on.
