Back in 1982 I told my guidance counselor I was ending my Philosophy studies and time at the UM, and he responded by saying it would be a terrible mistake. The biggest of my life. The deal we made was I would go to the Career Center and speak with them about it first. I did and they offered the Holland test which posits a party where people are gathered in groups with particular interests. Science, Arts, Mechanical, Business, Social work etc. At that party I chose to go over to the mechanically-minded group first, then musical/arts and then finally, business. On the list of fields these choices generated I saw one in particular that stood out. A trade. 42 years later, I write to say thank you!
