I have visited this beautiful campus many times. Each time I can just walk a small portion of it. Yet, I feel that each day is a perfect day over there. So close to nature. Every building is naturally immersed inside the trees. The weather is probably the best you could ever imagine for any campus. I look forward to go back again in the future.

I was visiting the school as a possible option for college, and did the online tour. We walked around and it was beautiful scenery (trees, grass, water, plants, deer, slugs, squirrels). I don't know how good the academics are, but the library looked really nice!!

One of the most beautiful campus I have ever been. It’s like hiking in the National park everyday. Those classroom buildings are also well designed. Really enjoy having a walk there.

UC Santa Cruz is the most slept-on UC in the system — and that’s exactly why it wins. Tucked into the redwoods, UCSC isn’t trying to flex fake prestige or slap buzzwords on mediocrity. It’s building real talent quietly, especially in tech, AI, game design, and the sciences. If you’re smart and focused, this is where you go to build — not to posture. Compare that to UC Davis: A school that’s constantly yelling, “We’re a top university!” — while their grads pull a laughable $54K median income ten years after enrolling. UCSC students intern at Apple. Davis students still argue about which pronouns to use in their group project title slide. Davis looks like it was designed by SimCity on a budget. Concrete buildings, cow smell in the air, and a culture that punishes ambition. Try standing out there and watch how fast you get side-eyed for having drive. The bar is low, the expectations are lower, and somehow they still trip over it. UCSC might not scream for attention — but it’s actually producing graduates who matter. Meanwhile, Davis is still trying to figure out why no one takes their tech program seriously when they’re surrounded by lettuce fields. If you want a school that’s chill but sharp, progressive but productive, and surrounded by actual beauty — UCSC. If you want to cosplay as an “intellectual” while getting mid-tier outcomes and living in ag country? UC Davis is calling.

Be careful where you park. We went to visit a demonstration garden and ended up with an $80 parking ticket. There was an extra large paved pullout (space for about 8 cars) at the garden entrance so we parked there. When we got back to the car in a half hour we had a ticket for illegal parking. There were no signs indicating that there was no parking and no signs indicating where you were supposed to park.
