This USO location has noticeably deteriorated since the retirement of the Sergeant Major. The new management often comes across as confrontational and unwelcoming, which is disheartening given the USO’s mission to provide a safe and supportive space for service members. During one visit, I witnessed a volunteer aggressively demand a CAC card from a PFC in uniform, then proceed to issue orders in a manner that felt inappropriate and disrespectful. The night shift, in particular, seems to lack the professionalism and warmth that once defined this place. It’s unfortunate—this USO used to be a reliable and uplifting spot. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. If you're considering stopping by, proceed with caution.

The customer service was wonderful, our original time was at 4 AM, but the lovely workers came in extra early to attend us. They provided comfort materials such as blankets and pillows as well as breakfast, which was much appreciated. I would recommend 👍

Visited today with my 2 children which one is still under the age of 18. An older woman with blond hair and glasses asked to see our IDS which I told her I didn’t happen to travel this time with mine but my two children had theirs. But I was registered in the system. She scolded me for not having my ID which I said no problem we can leave. But then she continued to talk and say well since we aren’t busy you can come in. I was like okay…so we went in, we all had a singular chicken tender, a bag of goldfish and a few Girl Scout cookies. As we were leaving about 40 min later a younger woman approached me again asking for my ID. I’m like hello I said I don’t have it on me. Then older lady comes again talking about how they have to have it. Like come on. I have my two kids with me who have theirs, I said I would leave at the beginning and yet we are still going over this! No other USO has ever been so ridiculous.

I'm writing to express my disappointment following a recent visit to your establishment. Upon arrival with my family—including my husband using a luggage cart, my daughter-in-law, and granddaughter—we were met with an unwelcoming attitude. The front desk attendant informed us, rather curtly, that luggage carts were not allowed and that military ID was required for anyone over 18. While we all had valid military identification—as my husband is currently serving and my daughter-in-law and I are military spouses—the attendant's tone was ungracious. As a result, we chose to leave due to the lack of hospitality.

I first visited this USO in 2015 which was shortly after they opened. Five years later and it looks just a great. This is by far the best USO I have visited. Prime location right next to Terminal 2, plenty of space to relax, and a fantastic staff. This was was on a Tuesday night. We arrived around 7:30pm and the location was practically empty. However, after talking to Mary, this is not always the case. She told me that MCRD has been using the facility for recruit receiving so beware that Monday’s could be a bit hectic. Pro Tip: They validate parking. I had no idea they offered this until the gentleman who greeted us offered.
