The zoo was awesome! Super fun. The train ride was a little less long than I expected, soon they're going to have a meeting on resuming a longer track based on TriMet. Expect to pay a lot in food but it goes to a good cause for the zoo. We saw tigers, bears, giraffes and otters and alot of animals. They had plenty of seating in the shade with nice wind. The trails weren't too difficult. There was a scooter for my mother-in-law and a stroller for rent for the kids. Expect to pay for parking. They don't mind if you bring your own food and drink. There are plenty of water fountains and bathrooms.

The most beautiful rose garden i have ever seen! There is a zoo, a forestry center, Japanese garden, rose garden, archery center, walking trails and the most beautiful views of the Portland skyline. Don't miss this! The train takes you to the zoo and free shuttles get you to all the other places.

Stunning park with so much to do. Hikers will enjoy the Redwood and Wildwood trails, while kids and families will have fun at the well planned zoo with gentle winding paths and amazing animals. The Japanese Garden is gorgeous, well worth a visit. If walking the whole park is too much, they have a shuttle that stops at all the attractions.

I recently visited the Portland International Rose Garden, and wow, it was an absolute dream. It’s tucked away in Washington Park, offering incredible views of downtown Portland and even Mount Hood in the distance. But the real star here? The roses. There were so many varieties, it felt like each step brought me to a whole new world of color and scent. From deep reds to soft pinks, vibrant yellows to purples, it was a total visual feast. Some roses were huge and velvety, while others were delicate and charming. Honestly, I could’ve spent hours just getting lost in the different blooms. The smell—oh my god. The scent of roses filled the air, sometimes sweet, other times spicy, and even citrusy in certain spots. It was like walking through a natural perfume shop. But what really made the experience special were the bees. They were everywhere, buzzing around the flowers, doing their thing. It felt so alive and natural, and honestly, the sound of them was just so peaceful. The garden itself is super well-kept, with pathways to stroll along, shaded areas to sit, and signs giving you details about the different roses. Whether you’re a rose lover or just someone looking for a beautiful, relaxing spot, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Pretty free space to make you feel “away from it all” in the middle of the city. While there are many paid attractions and museums. We enjoyed a quiet morning in the international rose test garden. Paid parking starts at 9:30 am, so was nice to get in and out before the heat and the crowds.
