My family and I had a great experience doing a 4-hour charter around San Diego Harbor. Our captain, Lance, was absolutely wonderful - funny, personable, skilled, and knowledgable. We had toddlers, teenagers, young adults, and retirees on board, and everyone had an equally great experience. Check in process was easy, communications leading up were clear and thorough, staff were very friendly. The boat was gorgeous, clean, and spacious for our party of 12, and we'd definitely recommend the experience to anyone.

I have been renting catamarans from West Coast Multihulls for many years now, primarily for my annual birthday celebration in February. Each year, we set sail out of the beautiful San Diego Bay for a whale-watching adventure, making unforgettable memories with friends. This tradition has become a highlight of my year, thanks in large part to the exceptional service and fleet provided by West Coast Multihulls. Their team is not just excellent; they go above and beyond to ensure each trip is special, whether it's for a personal celebration or a corporate event. The catamarans are always in pristine condition, and their knowledge of the area adds so much to our experience. I highly recommend West Coast Multihulls to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or just wanting a unique way to experience San Diego Bay. They truly cater to all kinds of events, making each one a memorable experience.

My teenage daughter and I took 4 ASA courses with West Coast Multihulls, and the entire experience was a treat. For ASA 101 we worked with Captain Steve. For 103, 104 and 114 it was Captain Lance. Both are amazing people. They have decades of experience, and both are evidently quite intelligent. They are patient, kind, and encouraging to students of all ages. Their skills overlap, but I’d say Steve’s particular strengths include a gentle humor, a wealth of engaging stories, and an ability to demonstrate a range of skills in a way that’s easy to imitate. Lance helped us prepare for 3 certifications, and he showed great skill in using different teaching methods – demonstrations, stories, the textbooks, Q and A, and hand-drawn diagrams. It made a huge difference for my learning and my daughter’s. There was a lot to take in over 5 days, but he made sure it happened. Ann in the office is a treasure, too. She provisioned the Lagoon we sailed to Catalina. My daughter and I are vegetarian, and she got us with the most amazing fruits and veggies and healthy treats. And then there were the whales and the dolphins! In sum: do it.

I had a terrific experience sailing with Blue Pacific Yachting in Marina del Ray (recently acquired by West Coast Multihulls) as part of their ASA 104/114 class to Catalina. This class is generally offered once a month on dates that would not work for me in coming months, so I really appreciated that Ellie in the office put together an off-cycle class that worked for me. My goals were to get time on a catamaran and get some local knowledge of Catalina Island. Our instructor Lori was very knowledgeable about the basic maneuvering we were able to cover in the class, and it was obvious she is very experienced going to Catalina. She was patient and observant and provided specific feedback as I got used to using a twin screw moving around and docking in the marina, and anchoring and picking up a mooring at Catalina. One thing to be aware of, and this is not a criticism but a trade-off for this class, is that the trip to and from Catalina uses up a lot of time that might have been spent on additional docking practice. Further, on this particular trip due to winds we motored both to Catalina and back which limited the actual sailing time. For my purposes that was not an issue since I was focused on local knowledge and already had significant bigger boat experience on monohulls since receiving the US Sailing BBC rating years ago. We picked up time though since Lori made the decision to have sailors come provisioned and pick up additional stuff at Two Harbors, which I was really glad about since the syllabus seemed to suggest that we would use up valuable class time talking provisions and going shopping. I definitely recommend Blue Pacific, and Lori!

I recently attended the ASA 103, 104 and ASA 114 classes on a Catamaran through West Coast MultiHaul. It was well worth the money and time spent. The ASA instructor Captain Anthony was a great instructor and Captain. Very knowledgeable and took all the technical information in the books and relay it into the practical hands on use. Great class Great instructor and Captain. Highly recommend West Coast Multihaul.

Why does sailing catamarans specifically create a better group dynamic at West Coast Multihulls? Catamarans present unique advantages that make group sailing more comfortable and interactive compared to traditional monohull boats. Their wide beam provides expansive deck and living area space, perfect for groups who want to socialize without feeling cramped. Catamarans also offer greater stability, which reduces seasickness and increases comfort, allowing all members to partake in the experience fully without discomfort. The design of the vessels facilitates easy movement around the boat, so group members can mingle freely, enjoy sunbathing, or assist with sailing tasks collaboratively. Moreover, catamarans usually feature dual hulls that allow for shallower drafts, enabling stops at more secluded coves and anchorages, ideal for private group explorations. This combination of comfort, space, and versatility means that group members can engage both in sailing activities and leisure, enhancing overall satisfaction and camaraderie on board.

What amenities and additional services does West Coast Multihulls provide to enhance your group experience? Beyond the core sailing and training offerings, WCM enriches group meetups with several thoughtful amenities and services designed to elevate the occasion. For one, their fleet of modern catamarans comes well equipped with all the essentials and extras—comfortable sleeping quarters, full kitchens, spacious lounge areas, and often, equipment for water fun such as snorkeling gear or paddleboards. This means groups can enjoy day sails or extended trips without feeling short on comfort or supplies. WCM also facilitates group booking flexibility and personalized itinerary planning, allowing you to tailor your time on the water based on your group's interests, be it sightseeing, wildlife watching, or simply relaxing. For special occasions or corporate meetups, the professional staff can assist in organizing catering or event setups onboard, turning a sailing trip into a memorable celebration. Additionally, their sailing club fosters social connections among sailing enthusiasts, offering regular events and outings beyond your initial booking. Collectively, these amenities and services work to make your group meetup seamless, unique, and deeply enjoyable.
