A fantastic place if you utilize enough of the services here. Personally, I use it all -- the fitness center, the classes, the pool, sauna, hot tub, access to other YMCA locations, and best of all, the CHILDCARE. This alone is worth the monthly cost, because you don't even have to be working out to use childcare (but you do have to be in the building the whole time). I also look forward to signing my kids up for swim lessons soon. This YMCA seems very popular among seniors and young families in the mornings, and working adults and teens in the afternoons and evenings.

My family and I have had a wonderful experience with this YMCA! The pool and swim lessons have been great for our son. All the instructors are very kind and attentive. The kids club is also filled with incredibly kind and caring caretakers and my son LOVES to go there. I've been able to reprioritize my fitness thank to this facility!

Why 5 stars? We are a nationwide YMCA family and for full transparency, this is not our home gym. A crucial part of the value we get out of the Y is the Kid Zone, and using this nationwide option as we travel. Some times my wife and I workout together, often times separately due to my work schedule, yet the Kids Zone allows us BOTH to spend 60-90 minutes hitting the gym. And that is pivotal to our health and wellness. This particular Y gym… is solid. Space is decent (I’ve seen smaller (our home Y) and some larger. This location had enough cable machines, 1 smith machine (so often we only find 1 🤷🏽♂️), and standard amount of benches, and quality weights for a Y. This gym was clean and the windows where a bonus as some locations have zero windows. Kids Zone… had time spots for all our 3 kids aged 3-10. Two of our kids when with their age range for outside fun and our older child went with her age group for basketball at the court gym. Our kids had A LOT OF FUN. They got excited for each morning to go and my wife was able to crush it in the weight room and return to our 3 bubbling recounts of the fun the had. Some tips: This may be obvious, check the kid zone schedule online ahead of time and FEEL ENCOURAGED TO CALL the office and CHECK the age range schedule (their paper schedule and online schedule had different details so the main branch connected us to their location to confirm there was space for all 3 of our heroes). Parking… avoid the lot if you can. Our family car was to big for all the compact car size spots. My wife found working 3 days straight in the front of the building between the hours of 10-12pm. Kids Zone schedules… many probably already know that schedule range significantly depending on the Y and this location had the most morning to noon options than the other Seattle locations. For a view of the weight room check out the clips and photos so you can better plan out your workout. 🙌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Unfortunately, the quality of management dropped over the years. I can't count how many times employees work there who promised to return an answer, never returned an answer afterwards. They put up a wall against customers for the convenience of themselves. For example, they'll give you random reasons that don't even follow logic to prevent using the community room, for their own convenience. I think internally, they probably call that "good work".

Used to live in WS and was a member for many years. Moved quite a while ago and stopped my membership. However, I always liked the "Hot area", especially the steam room so I rejoined, but find that it's very poorly run and the steam room is frequently down for maintenance (people poor cold water on the sensor and it breaks). Last time it happened was back in Feb and it took about two weeks to fix. It's now been down for 5 weeks and I was recently told that it won't be up and running for at least another two weeks. They clearly don't care and don't make it a priority to get it fixed. It's hard to believe they can't fix something like this in less than 7 or 8 weeks. I also notice that the hot tub is frequently closed because the water temp is too low and the water level is always low as well. And it's also extremely loud in the hot area, which is frustrating, because a lot of people like to use this part of the gym after a workout to relax and cool down, but can't because too many people think it's their own personal hottub and they are talking loud and carring on like it's in their own back yard, with no regard to others in the area. And the lifegaurds do nothing to help maintain some sort of respectful level of discourse. It's really unfortunate that this place is so poorly run as they really do have one of the better "hot areas" of all the YMCA's in the Seattle area. And since I live about 25 to 30 minutes away, I haven't been able to even use this Y in over a month since I only joined because of the quality of the hot area.
