Justine answered all of my questions and helped me find a new pair of stability shoes that fit my feet much better than my old shoes. A real pro.

West Seattle Runner was recommended by a friend when I mentioned I wasn’t happy with shoes I recently purchased online. Very glad I went, staff immediately noticed my current shoes were too small and narrow, apparently my feet have gotten bigger and wider over the years. They had me stand on a device that scanned my feet and asked what type of activity I use my shoes for, in my case it’s walking my dog around the neighborhood on sidewalks. They brought out a few different types of shoes (in the correct size and width) to try on and had me walk around the store until I found a pair I liked. I’m now more comfortable while walking my dog. Great experience with a knowledgeable, friendly staff. I’ll be buying my shoes here from now on.

This running store offers everything you need for running and walking including nutrition. The staff is super friendly and professional. My husband and I have been buying shoes from them for many years now and have never been disappointed. Another great perk are their community runs and running programs if you want to train for a marathon or half. I highly recommend their store!

This is the best shoe shopping experience I’ve had in years. They have great foot measuring equipment to fit your feet properly. Tim was extremely helpful. I was able to try them out at home as I have some foot issues. I came back to get a wider shoe. The return was quick, easy and Lilly and Laurie were great in helping me try a wider shoe. They seriously care about your comfort. Thank you!!

Whatever happened to friendly neighborhood customer service? As a longtime West Seattle resident, I love to support our local businesses and choose local over online shopping as much as I can. Today I stopped by West Seattle Runner with my daughter to get her foot measured. They explained they have a high-tech fitting service and I said no thanks, I just wanted to put her foot into one of those metal measuring things. Even if we weren't explicitly planning to make a purchase today, we are a customer in the door to gain or retain, and being helpful and kind goes a long way to getting me back in the door next time. Instead, the woman who seemed to be in charge made it clear that if we were not there to make a purchase in that moment we were to be dismissed and made to feel like we were doing something wrong. She gave quite a bit of attitude when I asked a single question about how to read the measurements on the tool and so out we walked, and we won't be back! Honestly did not know it is a crime to try to get your foot measured at a shoe store. Really disappointing to learn that a beloved locally owned, woman-owned business would treat people this way. Seems like a very shortsighted way to do business to me! **Updated on 12/27/24 to respond to WSR's comment: Feeling compelled to correct the record here! Your version of events is simply not true. To be clear, no one “jumped in” to help us. In fact, I noticed the woman who was rude to us shake her head at the young man who was trying to help, and he moved away. We were in store for less than 10 minutes. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that you’ve confused us with another customer and not purposely spreading misinformation. Ultimately, reviews are meant to benefit other customers by sharing experiences and sometimes the way the business responds to feedback is equally beneficial in that regard :)
