The chicken are so fresh and delicious! Also the beef tongue is a must try. Light smoky flavor adds new layer of aroma to the skewers. So happy to have such authentic Japanese cuisine here. I would at least pay double the price for this same level food in NYC. Service is not so warm but its OK for me.

Hands down best Izakaya in the City. Super authentic and incredibly tasting everything from the Yakitori skewers to the dessert of deep fried cheesecake it was super bomb. We made a reservation because we’d tried to walk in twice before and got turned away. It was totally worth the wait. Can’t wait to go back. Keiko was really nice too.

Second time here, waited a little but not crazy long. The food here definitely worth the wait. The thigh is soft and tender, and the chicken meatball is very flavorful. Everything is good in this place. It’s even better with the ASAHI super dry, it’s my favorite drink. Service also very nice. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Yokohama Yakitori Koubou, and it was a mixed experience. On the plus side, the miso soup and skewers were quite good, and the rice was decent. However, the cabbage wasn’t the freshest, and they gave a lot of it with just a small amount of mayo. The oolong tea was also not great. As for the service, no one really smiled or seemed all that positive. The real issue came after I chose not to tip because the prices in the restaurant were higher than what I’d seen online. A staff member actually followed me outside and was being quite loud about it, pointing at the tip line on the receipt and basically trying to pressure me into tipping. People around us could hear the whole thing, which made it really uncomfortable. In short, the food had some highlights, but the overall experience was overshadowed by the uncomfortable and loud confrontation about tipping

Good spot for grilled skewers but nothing seemed to really shine except the chicken thighs. Everything was grilled to medium doneness which made beef items a little more tougher. Maybe they need to cook closer to the coals, the beef tongue and beef short ribs were a bit overcooked - could greatly benefit if cooked to medium rare. Service was good. The atmosphere felt lively.
