This is the first review I've ever written (seriously!), and to be honest I'm writing it as I sit here with a friend of mine looking at the website, talking about miscellaneous stuff (like me not having ever written a review), and I was telling her about when my partner and I went to Zuzu's Petals a couple of years ago (my friend will be in Cambridge soon and I was giving her a recommendation). We love this place! We're not regulars as we only go to Boston occasionally to see my partner's sister and family, but whenever we're in town we try to go at least one night. It's so refreshing to have a space with no phones, at least for a little while, YA KNOW?!? Of course I'm writing this on a screen, so the irony is not lost on me, but a break from screens? I'll take it. Last time we were there the record player (vinyl, of course!) was playing Bowie, Stones among others - again, refreshing to hear full albums - and I think we had a cheese plate and few glasses of wine and of course dessert. It's always been a nice time for us and we highly recommend! And thus dear reader we reach the conclusion of my post: my friend and I both agree, since I'm sharing this restaurant suggestion with her, why not share it with the world?!?!? (Like I said, it's my first time and this was fun to write...)

Went here for the first time a couple days ago. We enjoyed the food/drinks and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service we received soured our overall experience. I arrived promptly for a 7pm reservation and my partner arrived several minutes later. I was quickly seated and offered water, which was appreciated. When asked if I’d like to order, I let the server know I would wait for my partner. Once he arrived, however, we waited over 30 minutes for a server to return to our table, despite our efforts to make eye contact with several staff members. During that time, servers were actively attending to tables around us, which made the lack of attention to ours especially noticeable. We eventually placed an order for wine and a cheese board, but the cheese board didn’t arrive for another 35–40 minutes—and only after we asked about it a second time. Later, when we asked about dessert, we were told, “It should be okay, but this table is reserved at 9.” After spending so much time waiting, it really felt like a slap in the face to be told that we would need to expedite our dessert consumption & payment due to an incoming reservation. I’d really like to see steps taken to ensure that tables don’t fall through the cracks in this way. Perhaps a brief note on the reservation page regarding the two-hour seating limit would help set expectations. Or, consider adjusting the number of reservations you accept to allow for instances of slower service and/or customer lingering. I understand and appreciate your goal of cultivating a laid-back, European-inspired vibe where guests are encouraged to linger, but in our case, it felt more like we were being overlooked and then rushed out.

We went for the desserts and they were impeccable, chef’s kiss! Food: The tiramisu had a deep coffee taste that made our eyes light up and the apple crumble was a perfect fruity complement to go back and forth with. Service/Atmospshere: Finally the atmosphere was very cozy and intimate making it great for date night. But one thing you can’t control unfortunately is the noise from other patrons. The small cozy shop quickly turns into an echo chamber with one noisier table. Regardless, the shop delivers on its promise of good desserts and an intimate screen-free evening.

I went here to celebrate my birthday, drawn by the cozy, analog (no cell phones!) ethos of this gem of a wine bar. It exceeded all my expectations! Shout out to Maggie, who was an incredible server - attentive, fun, warm, and knowledgeable. I especially loved the wine and dessert pairing (we had the earl grey chocolate mousse and the creme brûlée, both excellent, both gluten-free). Extra special sauce: all the music comes a well-curated record collection played on a turn table. If I could describe our night in one word: magical. Highly recommend!
