I have been coming to this Academy for over 20 years to buy many workout/ running shoes, adidas pants and shirts. I was shocked today when the afternoon manager told me that they could not exchange defective shoes that basically melted in a month. Academy has a 60 or 90 day return policy. I confirmed to the employee/young man that since I paid with a credit card that they would be able to track my purchase. He agreed but when he went to ask the manager, they refused to exchange the shoes because they were damaged. Then, tonight after I was done with my last appointment at my business - I went back to return the new shoes and new insoles that I had to buy today after they refused to exchange or refund my used ”1 month” defective shoes. I returned the new shoes and new insoles because they made my knee and lower back hurt. I decided to ask the acting manager tonight why they did not give exchanges when the shoes were damaged or defective- he then said that they take care of their customers if they have a receipt or did a credit card transaction. So, I asked him why they wouldn’t exchange my defective shoes and then he said that he would have!!! I am disappointed in the way things are today. People are too distracted and careless because they put all their time scrolling through their iPhones! This world is going downhill and so is Academy. I am taking my business to Dicks Sporting Goods. It might be more expensive but at least I can could count on good customer service and excellence. Why does Academy Sports have such an inefficient policy requiring customers to purchase fishing or hunting licenses only at the front checkout—especially when there’s a long line and only one register open? Meanwhile, there are two employees in the sporting goods section doing nothing who could easily handle the transaction. This setup wastes time and frustrates customers. Why not empower trained staff in the department to issue licenses directly?

Went in to picked up order today, Justin (front door greeter) specifically told me I would have to wait. Divna said someone was coming with my order, but no one had asked me my name. Tay took the time to go to the back and help me with my order. Thanks again Tay.

I have been coming to this Academy for over 20 years to buy many workout/ running shoes, adidas pants and shirts. I was shocked today when the afternoon manager told me that they could not exchange defective shoes that basically melted in a month. Academy has a 60 or 90 day return policy. I confirmed to the employee/young man that since I paid with a credit card that they would be able to track my purchase. He agreed but when he went to ask the manager, they refused to exchange the shoes because they were damaged. Then, tonight after I was done with my last appointment at my business - I went back to return the new shoes and new insoles that I had to buy today after they refused to exchange or refund my used ”1 month” defective shoes. I returned the new shoes and new insoles because they made my knee and lower back hurt. I decided to ask the acting manager tonight why they did not give exchanges when the shoes were damaged or defective- he then said that they take care of their customers if they have a receipt or did a credit card transaction. So, I asked him why they wouldn’t exchange my defective shoes and then he said that he would have!!! I am disappointed in the way things are today. People are too distracted and careless because they put all their time scrolling through their iPhones! This world is going downhill and so is Academy. I am taking my business to Dicks Sporting Goods. It might be more expensive but at least I can could count on good customer service and excellence.
