This little shop is a powerhouse of needlework supplies and experiences!! Every nook and cranny is filled with embroidery floss, fabrics, and charts of both the latest cross stitch designs as well as some “oldies but goodies”. The staff are super knowledgeable and very friendly. Don’t forget to check out the notions corner as well. And if you simply cannot wait to start your newest cross stitch piece, ask about having a seat at the Annex next door. This is where classes are held (check the calendar!!). Also, it’s the home of open stitching, where all are welcome to bring a project, a finish if you want to share, and stitch with friends. Speaking of finishing, if you are not quite comfortable doing your own finishing on your masterpiece, Acorns also offers a full line of finishing options from soft finishes such as pillows to framing! Really and truly this little shop is a one-stop Mecca of supplies and knowledge. Even if you live far away, you will keep wanting to come back time and again! For those of us who DO live far away, they offer over the phone shopping and shipping as well as an on line presence for a few items. Come once, leave with forever friends; come repeatedly to find what you missed earlier, the latest and greatest, and participate in their frequent buyer rewards program! Incredible store! Visited Portland very briefly recently and I always look up local cross stitch stores as they have become more rare. Acorns and Threads is INCREDIBLE! I got there shortly before closing and assured them I would hurry, but was visiting from the east coast. I received a warm welcome and they assured me I could take my time. (I hate doing that to stores, and it’s better from my budget if I don’t!) They have EVERYTHING and it’s all perfectly organized. I you can’t find it, ask them and they’ll head right to it. They also do framing. Do. Not. Miss. This. Gem.

This lovely shop was a touch overwhelming in a very good way. When it comes to thread it puts my local shop to shame – what a treat! I spent a good hour wandering around to really get a good look at everything and found some patterns I'm very excited to own. The store is neat, well organized and even the washroom is full of inspiration! I was so pleased to see a lot of people in there and the finished samples are stunning.

This is a great cross stitching shop! They have a wide selection of threads, fabrics, patterns, and supplies. The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable. While I was there, I overheard them helping a gentleman pick out fabric, supplies, and thread for his first project that he had done in years, and they were extremely helpful, encouraging, and accommodating. I also heard them helping a woman who wanted to try her first project, and they walked her through the basics. I was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend visiting.
