Took this class a while back ago and I really enjoyed it. They basically have a coffee lab with high end espresso machines and you have full use of them. You brew ALL methods of coffee and all of it it’s high end coffee. You drink a lot of coffee and they treat us to pastries from their coffee house and coffee. The best thing about this is that the owner Matt is so nice and friendly. They basically let you use the lab like if it was your own kitchen. If you want to make a latte or a frapp they tell you “go ahead!”. They’re just really cool people. Absolute freedom as long as you respect and keep the lab clean. They also provided with amazing lunch from local eats. Good people and great hospitality.

I just took the training in late Sept. 2020. I really enjoyed the class and the hand on training. The instructors are very knowledgeable and it's a great learning experience. The training happened during the Covid and it was kind of nice in a way because we only have 4 students which gave us plenty of time one-on-one with instructor and asking question. I highly recommend the class to any one who interested to learn more about coffee making or opening a coffee shop. It's not as simple as it seem.

I've just invested one week of my time attending the ABCS, to learn about the coffee business and barista skills. The time spent was incredibly beneficial. I'm originally from London, now living in New York, and was surprised to learn that Portland is the Mecca for good coffee in the US. The first day was invaluable, insights into what the pitfalls are when negotiating leases, and how to avoid them, through to learning about the fundamentals of milk steaming and coffee menu bar preparation. An absolute MUST for anyone wanting to expand on their learning of Barista techniques or open a shop intending on selling the best Coffee in town. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
