My son transferred schools because of a separation between me and his dad and he had played with a pop warner team that was related to the school. He had no control over the decisions I made. Now he can't play football a whole season. This is so unfair. No letter gets mailed, no right to appeal it or explain the situation. This is like being accused with no jury or right to defend yourself. Also they entrap you, they don't put the rule out there and then when you are honest then they are like oh well you broke a rule(that you didn't know existed). But all freshman can have prior contact and then switch schools with no penalty. So I am sure recruiting happens but they aren't catching it, just penalizing anyone that is honest on their forms with no rights to appeal or take it on a case by case basis. This is the most unfair and unjust thing I have ever heard and then to take it out on a kid because the parent didn't know the rules. I have never been through a separation or transferred my kid schools but I am just supposed to know everything. So if I lied I would of got away with it. I thought I was being a good parent by keeping my kid active in during the spring season in a sport he loves. They should make parents aware of this rule. Pop warner or school coaches should let you know they are affiliated with the school and if you choose to transfer this is considered prior contact. Then you were read the rights and if you choose to continue you know the consequences. They are not putting this info out their. They need to send you a flyer when you register your athlete so you are aware of the rules and don't make any choices that will hurt your child. God forbid I have to move, I wouldn't of moved my child if I knew how it was going to affect him or hurt him.

AIA is BIASED. They let scottsdale schools get away with anything because there is $$$ and money equals power. Multi racial and ethnic schools and schools in lower income demographic areas will never have the same opportunities because AIA will not allow it.

I think that it is completely awful to stop kids from playing sports because of matters out of their control. Not all kids transfer schools for sport related reasons. My kid unfortunately transferred 2 times because of things outside of even my control and I am told because of this he cant play football his senior year. So stupid. HE can practice with the team but not play in a game. How is this ok??? Cant even fight it. My school says they have never seen an appeal won. Why have the process then?

Just read an article about the AIA banning the Native Navajo hair style for a team from Flagstaff. I have believed the AIA messed up a bonafide student from competing in the girls golf tournament so she could Not even try to defend her championship. They now to the coaches who complain about competitors because the are Native American or foreign born . I am happy my children are out of high school and the crap that goes on in the SIS.

The 2020 Winter high school season should not be cancelled. You should leave it up to the families to determine if they want their child playing. This is not a decision should have made. It needs to be reversed immediately!!
