We booked an 8-day trip to Italy with Avanti Destinations through Lauren Gibson/AAA in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and had an amazing experience. We began finalizing plans about six months before our June departure, and Lauren made sure we had all the proper documentation to travel smoothly. The package Avanti offered was perfect for our party of six (including a 4 year old). They provided a customized itinerary that included tours, transportation and hotels in Venice, Rome and Florence (available in print and also on an app). Long story short, everything worked out as it should. If a driver was supposed to be at a train station to meet us, they were. Each walking tour began on time with a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Each tour guide, driver or host we encountered in Italy was anwesome and I have zero complaints about the experiences they chose for us. We had to change our flights on the way over due to mechanical issues on an inbound flight but we made it to Venice only two hours behind schedule. The highlights of this Avanti package included walking tours in Florence and Venice, a lengthy golf cart tour in Rome, and a Coliseum tour in Rome. The train travel was efficient and comfortable. ***One small suggestion/tip: We were told the Trenitalia train from Venice to Florence was ticketless and to just provide an ID. That’s not correct and the hostess wanted to see our tickets. I was able to use the provided confirmation number on the Trenitalia web site to pull up our tickets/QR code which we easily scanned. Avanti did provide this for a Florence>Rome train but be aware of this issue.*** Avanti provided us the perfect amount of things to experience without overdoing it or robbing us of free time to explore Italy. I would absolutely use Lauren/AAA and Avanti for future trips!
