This is property of San Diego high school. It's large and pretty good for activities. I'm not sure if the back side closer to the freeway is ever open though because I've never seen it open. It's very good for running and sports.

For some of us lucky old farts this is holy ground. The Beatles performed here in 63. I was fortunate enough to have attended several shows here in the mid 70's. Jethro Tull, Seals and Croft, Chicago and others... I just rolled thru there a few hours ago on my bike. It was delightfully deserted and perfect for a long slow roll by. Ahhh, the golden days of Balboa Park... Hippies on the grass, literally and figuratively 🧘♂️

Nice stadium. Nice field. Parking is easy. Stadium seating is just concrete "steps". Watch out for the bathrooms, they have an entrance and an exit. Last time I was there the exit was locked and the entrance doesn't have a handle on the inside so I had to reach under the door to get out.

Disappointed to find the track locked on a sunday afternoon, what a loss of space. I can’t understand why such a nice field is not open to the public, and why these schools look like prisons with their steel gates and fences everywhere.

Mixed feelings here. Scene of former national- & world-class Athletics (Track & Field) competitions, now reduced to a high school stadium. Serves the overall community VERY well in its currently limited role...down from originally being the municipal stadium for San Diego, & focal point of large & important events.
