Ballet West put in the Nutcracker. I loved it. I'm not someone who was interested in ballet at all. I went for my wife, but ended up loving it. The dancers were amazing. The stage and the building are beautiful. The props and the stage crew made it look very realistic. The symphony did a great job as well. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed it. I will definitely go again.

Ballet West Academy has been and continues to be a fabulous experience for my daughter. Moving studios at 15 was a bit nerve wracking for both of us but she was welcomed in with open arms and open hearts. The instructors are world class literally. They come from companies all over to staff the academy. Many danced at Ballet West at some point in their careers. Though some classes can be quite big the personal attention makes them seem small. My daughter takes classes in technique, pointe, contemporary, character, partnering, and more. They regularly learn variations as well. The academy puts on a contemporary show each year as well as a winter and spring showcase. These are wonderful with amazing choreography and professional costumes. My daughter has grown so much in the last 2 years. Staff and instructions truly care about the success of each student and guide them to be the best they can be. The other students are encouraging and friendly. I have seen a huge change in my daughter's technique as well as her confidence and general happiness since being at BWA. I highly recommend BWA. It truly is the next level of dance instruction.

All they care about is money!!! I am a young adult professional dancer, and I went to the summer intensive in 2022 (then pre-professional). I have been to 7 different summer intensives around the country, and this one was the worst, by far. It was way overpriced, not as advertised, and highly disorganized. They probably accepted about 2 or 3 times as many dancers as they have capacity for in their huge building with 6+(?) studios. So, it turned out to be only a half-day summer intensive with half of the dancers coming in the morning and the rest in the afternoon, which they let us know on the first day. Also, my class and many other dancers spent 2 of the weeks in another dance studio down the street, not owned by Ballet West, that didn't have sprung floors or mirrors. Not what I paid $3000 in tuition for, but okay. Also, even though I was only dancing a few hours out of the day, I wasn't really able to work because the schedule changed drastically every week, and they didn't tell us the schedule until the night before. I didn't stay in the dorms, so I'm not sure what that was like. The teachers were all good and definitely knew what they were talking about, but overall not a good experience and not worth the money. If you are looking for a summer intensive in the Salt Lake area, go to the University of Utah Ballet or Central Utah Ballet.

I would rate the Academy itself a 4.5 but trying to get your dancer there or pick them up is a nightmare. Between construction, lane closures, and heavy traffic it is very difficult to find a safe pickup point. The dance instruction is first rate if you have a serious ballet dancer. Of special note is Jeff Rogers who truly cares about the young men he teaches and mentors.

Saw the Nutcracker here. Great dancers for sure and love they know about their ADA they had available. Only hope they will eventually get an induction loop for hearing aid user.
