Walked in and fell in love with the space! Such an amazing vibe and great staff to take care of you. The coffee was great, egg and cheese bagel fantastic but skip the turkey, egg and cheese - that was a bit of a fail.

One thing you recognize immediately about this place is that it seems to have that “community” vibe. Many ethnicities showed up at this Bridgeport establishment, in an artsy “museum” style campus. The breakfast bagel sandwich was very good. It is worth the try but I feel there are some other places that make a better overall breakfast sandwich. The bacon was more like crumbles and was bit chewy. The egg was just over medium but the eveything bagel lacked the saltiness and snap from other everything bagels I have had. For the price, its worth it. Also, the ambiance is worth a visit. Friendly staff, service was a bit slow today as the line backed up towards the entrance. But that was due to a fairly large catering order being prepared. If I lived in the area, I would definitely try the other sandwiches on the menu in a subsequent visit.

This place is a total hidden gem! Been here twice and my latte has been 10/10 both times, which is hard to come by because everyone knows coffee shops are never consistent. The owner is also super friendly and ensures that you are satisfied with your order. Honestly, much doesn’t have to be said because look at this picture, speaks for itself! Sooooo good.

Base Community Cafe is one of those local and authentic gems you always hope to stumble upon. Tucked away in the historic Bridgeport Art Center—originally built in 1911 as a warehouse and manufacturing facility for Albert Pick & Co., a supplier to restaurants and hotels—this place radiates real Chicago character. The café feels wrapped in the warm, storied brick of the city’s past. Privately owned and operated, Base serves as a welcoming space for a new generation of entrepreneurs. Their locally sourced coffee is excellent, and the menu features a small but delicious selection of fresh pastas, along with an impressive array of signature breakfast bagel sandwiches. But don’t think it’s just a morning stop—their menu of handcrafted sandwiches makes it a great spot any time of day. My personal favorites? The pistachio latte and what I’ve dubbed my own Saturday BLT Day. As a true BLT guy, I can honestly say theirs is one of the best in the city.

A HIDDEN GEM! I stumbled on this cafe a few weeks ago and got their caramel mocha iced latte and the bacon egg and cheddar on a jalapeño bagel and holy moly! The drink was transcendent and the sandwich delectable! So of course, I HAD to go back. Today I bought their sandwich, The Rebel, on the sourdough and a caramel mocha iced latte(no brainer). What a treat! The drink is sweet and strong and the sandwich is so flavorful! I am making this one of my top favorite cafe spots! I’m looking forward to trying their other menu options. I also had a little more time to chat with the owner Paul. He is amiable, respectful and so pleasant to speak to. It was a pleasure getting to talk to him today. Congratulations on your cafe, Paul! You’re doing great things!!
