This is not a beach. Did the city close it up on purpose? EDIT - okay so it's kind of a beach, but you have to step over some rocks to get there and enter the water and then that is sandy. Also haven't seen anyone else swim in the past two months. Feel bad rating the earth so two stars reflect my genuine confusion.

This place can convey many things, but when I was picnicking near this area, I could immediately perceive peace. It is a good place to think, read, take photos... I recommend it.

An interesting area. The bottom is sandy. Not rock or mud as might be expected. Except I was swimming here at low tide and the bottom is very muddy if you go out a bit. As the area creates a bit of a cove, its kind of sheltered from the Hudson River currents. One day I was here when there was a bit of a wind and it seemed the wind had more effect on me than the current. While this is the first place I ever swam in the Hudson from the shore, I don't love it because if the wind is blowing from the south (which is quite typical in summer) you may get whiffs of an offputting smell from the the North River Wastewater Treatment plant a little over a mile to the south. One day the guy who does the Sisyphus Stones thing to the south was burning some incense which nicely counteracted the offputting wastewater treatment plant smell.
