Decent facility but not run well. Says no coaching during public ice sessions but then proceeds to let only a “select few” coaches take half the ice. This is unacceptable. If they want practice sessions you have to pay for private ice. They also do not always clean the ice in between sessions. This is unacceptable as many people are paying the costs for a refreshed ice and this is not happening. Management does not respond well to criticism either. Picture attached of half the ice during stick n puck being taken by two coaches.

Wonderful place to learn skating at milehighskating by Coach Sergei & team. They are very passionate and fun in helping a newbie like me(never skated before). After the 4 week session, able to skate all basic moves without falling once😁

I have been to Big Bear over 25+ years on and off from events to birthday parties and more (back when they used to have an arcade and I want to say laser tag). I even loved to workout here in the past. However, after taking a break I decided to get back into working out, only to realize, the price had gone up. Wanting to now charge $20 (or $15 with a membership) for one session is ridiculous. I'd love to know why all of a sudden the price has gotten so expensive. It's not like they have a shortage of income since sometimes Public Skate times can be impossible to get to as they are in the middle of the work day. And the other rink is always busy with Hockey events. I wouldn't be AS mad about it, if the ice conditions were better, but they aren't. I deal with them cause the price wasn't bad, and they weren't horrible (the old South Suburban's was worst, but since the new place was built, Big Bear falls down the list). It's a shame, I love to just ice skate for fun, but at those prices, I can't afford to do so. Especially when I have to get my skates sharpened usually after a few sessions.

I grew up ice skating so since it's been 20 years or more, I paid the $25 price... Even though other walk ins paid less, $22. Not sure what that's about, they should have pricing somewhere easily seen, but I guess they choose what to charge to whomever, definitely not discriminatory. Lastly the ice wasn't that great. The Zamboni was used for the hockey session on the other rink, but not for the freestyle. There were small holes, some blood and cuts in the ice. They probably should have someone check the free style ice for things like that. Sorry, I will not come back here as I feel it's unfair I paid more than another person after me, and the ice was not smooth.

The leagues here are a complete disaster and the safety of players is of little to no concern. I tore my MCL as a result of a guy who blindsided me for absolutely no reason other than I accidentally ran into a player on his team. After which he continued to cross check me back onto the ice as I tried to get up. He served a minor penalty and even after I emailed the league director about what transpired, was never suspended for his behavior. Please don't give this rink your money.
