Truly beautiful place to hike with well maintained trails and a good chance of seeing wildlife. The trails are all fairly easy and there are periodic places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Great for dogs but would not recommend bringing a stroller. At the trailhead are their ambassador birds, who are being cared for by the wildlife rescue center. The gift shop is surprisingly big with mix of souvenirs, books, bird-watching materials and bird feeding supplies. Parking is free but limited.

Always love to visit this place. The little gift shop has some fun items, and the small display of historical items is nice. The real gem is the walking path, with two large enclosures for their resident rescue birds at the beginning of the path. The path is steep, so be aware if you have mobility considerations. The gift store offers binoculars lending (just leave some collateral with the cashier). A lovely walk!

My wife works for camping world in woodland wa. They had a class A motorhome come in for repair work and while the technician was doing the repairs he found a birds nest with two baby birds in it which later turned out to be juncos. I left a message with bird alliance and someone got back to me within an hour of my calling. They provided instruction on how to safely transport the birds to their location. Upon arriving they had someone right at the front door where they had me fill out some simple paperwork to intake the birds. The staff was very friendly and asked me if I would like to know what they are which they informed me of very quickly and took down my personal information to provide me eith updates as they raise them and told me someone would be in contact when they are of age to be released so I could come watch as well. These people truly love what they do and my interaction with them was very positive and pleasant.

My adult daughter suggested visiting this place on a very hot day in the Portland area. The many trees provided great shade. The facility itself looked modern and accommodating to the many visitors there. The birds and turtle were interesting.
