Here's what people think of Boqueria - Colony Square

As of recent, Boqueria - Colony Square holds a 4.8-star rating based on 1433 reviews.

Reviews of Boqueria - Colony Square highlight its energetic atmosphere, modern and attractive design, and excellent service. Many reviewers appreciate the restaurant's spacious and trendy environment that makes even weekday lunches feel special and vibrant, ideal for socializing and casual gatherings. Positive feedback focuses on standout dishes such as the flavorful Gambas al Ajillo and the well-composed cocktail selection, with guests often praising the attentive and friendly staff who enhance the overall dining experience. However, some critiques mention that certain dishes, like the roasted chicken wings and seafood paella, could benefit from stronger seasoning or more authentic flavors. Noise levels during busy times can be high, which may impact conversation. Overall, the reviews suggest Boqueria excels as a social destination and a stylish spot for tasting Spanish-inspired cuisine, though it may be better suited for sharing plates rather than a full meal. Its strong ambiance, combined with quality service, secures it as a favored place for friends to connect and celebrate in Atlanta’s Midtown.

I came here for my birthday dinner and while the food itself was delicious, the overall experience was a disappointment. The service was extremely slow — it took far too long for our food to come out, and when it finally did, it wasn’t served at the same time. The person who seated us seemed completely uninterested in welcoming guests, which set the tone for the night. The saving grace was our server — she was genuinely kind, attentive, and even offered a complimentary dessert, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, her efforts couldn’t make up for the lack of staffing and the poor pace of service overall. For the price point and reputation, I expected much better organization and hospitality. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

It is one of the restaurants within walking distance from the Woodruff Art Museum, and the atmosphere is very modern and cool. It is like a bar in a Hong Kong movie or a market in a department store. The interior is quite large, but the tables are quite close together. We went for lunch, so it wasn't too crowded, but if there are a lot of people, it might be uncomfortable to talk. The food seems a little small, but it is okay for the price. It is delicious and the plating is pretty.

We had a mixed experience for lunch. The bad: The steak and lamb skewers both came out cold and we had to send them back to be re-made. The crispy calamari was overcooked and rubbery. In retrospect, we should’ve sent this back too but we were already irritated about sending the two skewers back. The good: Caesar salad was good. Nothing special. The garlic shrimp was the star of the meal. It came out piping hot with crusty bread for dipping. The chicken wings were also very good, coming out very hot and crispy. I’m always puzzled when dishes don’t come to the table piping hot at tapas restaurants where dishes are delivered as soon as they’re ready. I think they need to hire food runners instead of depending on servers to check. Our server handled the issues politely and professionally. A manager dropped off the second plate of steak skewers but didn’t apologize. Just set them down and left. Seemed odd that he would make the effort to run food but not acknowledge the issue. The second set of skewers were warmer but still not hot. I’m not sure why. In summary, we wouldn’t return or recommend this place as there are so many other great places in this area.

My husband and I went last night (09.01.2025) on our wedding anniversary and we were served by Malcom, the friendliest server ever! He was so kind, had such a positive energy, and spoiled us with and celebratory champagne and delicious churros as well! I’m sure anyone who visits this place and gets to meet him will just have their days completely made :) We really loved the lighting in there as well. There was mood lighting and the ambience was quite chic and romantic. Highly recommend!

I truly believe this restaurant has the potential to be great, but there are still some major areas of opportunity that need attention. My first visit was fantastic, which is why I came back and even recommended it to guests from my own restaurant. Unfortunately, this second visit during lunch was a letdown. While the bartender was friendly and the food overall was decent, I was especially looking forward to the paella marisco. After a 25-minute wait, it arrived overly oily—so much so that I had to send it back. Another 25 minutes passed before the second one came out. Still, no one from management acknowledged the delay or stopped by to apologize. I could see managers and even the chef working on laptops around the bar, which made the lack of engagement feel even more frustrating. There was no recovery effort, no follow-up to see how the new dish turned out—just silence. The second paella was okay, but not as good as the one I had on my first visit. It’s disappointing to feel like your feedback and experience don’t matter, especially in a place I had high hopes for. This is a beautiful concept with a lot of potential, but execution—especially in guest care—is where things fall short. I’ll be much more selective about if and when I return
