I had no film experience and after I took Beginning Film Photography with Don I have become a film enthusiast! I regularly use the darkroom to print my photos and he taught me to develop the negatives at home so that I have even more control over the process. I even added one of my photos to the first Friday art walk when he opens the darkroom to visitors. Don is a fantastic teacher with many decades of experience in both teaching and as a professional photographer. He has such insight into the art, not just the science, of photography and he has helped me improve greatly over the last year. I absolutely recommend taking a class with Don, whether it's film or digital, no matter your background. You will learn so much!

My husband and I took the "Creative Film Photography" course with Don recently and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. I can't recommend it enough. Since it was just us, the course was super tailored to our interests and level of experience (which was close to zero). Ever since that first class we haven't stopped shooting and learning. Don has a brilliant mind and is a natural storyteller. He was also very flexible and understanding when we had to reschedule. Oh! And no one arounds beats his prices. We now (just a month after the course ended) develop and scan our own film at home, and frequently visit his darkroom to print. We just can't say goodbye to Don! Thank you for introducing us to this magical world, compadre.

I recently took Don Oberbeck's "Beginner to Digital Photography" classes, and I can't stop telling everyone about how great it was!! The class consisted of myself (totally inexperienced) and another lady (pretty experienced). Don tailored the classes to our background and interests, and both myself and the other lady left every class commenting to each other how we'd learned a plethora of information that just isn't available online / in books (seriously, I filled up multiple pages with notes each class). As an extra bonus, Don has great stories and factoids! Whether you are more like me or more like my classmate, this class will be exactly what you're looking for, and more. I'm so glad I took the class as it's obvious Don's an expert in the field of photography and a great teacher.
