Came in early on a weekday to exchange clothes for store credit. I brought in three canvas bags of clothes that were diverse, plus size, seasonally appropriate, and trendy, with minimal to no wear. Many of them still had tags on them and the ones that didn't had been freshly laundered. Absolutely nothing was accepted, which was honestly extremely surprising to me. (I proceeded to bring them to the Downtown location and got $130ish store credit.) But even though that was frustrating, that's not what compelled me to write this review. After my clothes had been gone through, I asked the (very nice) associate if there was anything I should keep in mind to get clothes accepted in the future. They were halfway through the first sentence when a manager yelled across the stores from the registers to tell them to jump on register to check out a customer. Mind you, it was not busy. That customer was the only other person in the store aside from myself and two others. The employee helping me said, very politely and professionally, "can I just finish up with my customer here real quick?" To which the manager gave a look that I've only ever seen from teachers about to scold a misbehaving child, and replied "pause and get on register", very slowly, like they were stupid. The employee looked embarrassed and apologized to me. I honestly found that the way the manager spoke to the employee distasteful and disrespectful. There's not really an excuse for it. It put a bad taste in my mouth. The entire experience kinda sucked, enough for me to write a review.

This is my go-to secondhand store due to the variety of options and decent prices. I usually find some things I like, but it’s hit or miss like any place. I rarely sell anything, and when I do, yeah they barely accept my items and don’t offer enough cash. But that’s my experience at most consignment shops (I’m just not that cool I guess lol). However, as a buyer/shopper, I generally have a positive experience and find the employees kind, helpful, and fun. For reference, I am typically a size S/M and wear size 8 shoes. I am seeing much worse experiences from plus size folks, and for that, Buffalo should take the feedback to heart and do better because everyone deserves to feel beautiful & welcome while shopping!

It's interesting to read some of the reviewers share experiences of feeling rejected for having clothes that are "not stylish enough" when the selection of women's clothing that is currently being offered isn't the best. Style is subjective, I find this Buffalo Exchange to lack diversity and only appeal to a certain type of femininity, particularly in the blouses and dresses they offer. Not bashing anyone's style but I would have liked more choices and I found better options for my taste at decent prices in other thrift stores in the area. The general atmosphere of the place is a bit unpleasant, as it gives off pretentious vibes. I will say that the men's selection was a lot better than the women's selection, though I wish they had more smaller sizes for that gender.

Went in today with a lot of Plus Size name brand ladies clothing some NWT. Gal was very nice and lead me to believe they really needed plus size clothes and lead me to believe she was going to take items only to push everything back to me and said not interested. No explaination nothing. I am so surprised that not even 1 piece was taken. They really give you a show, but they need to realize this took time to put together and travelled from Oregon city. just didn’t seem right I always am able to have success with other stores. This whole experience was very unprofessional in every aspect. Hire better people that know what they are doing please. But won’t be going back. Seems to be a pattern according to other reviews

This has always been one of my favorite shops along Hawthorn; how ever today’s experience wasn’t the best. Being 7 months pregnant and being ADA they still didn’t have a restroom for me to use; and then the staff went on to talk about how they are so full of gas and fart all the time, but at least they have spray at buffalo exchange to help with the smell. It’s already frustrating living in a society where we are forcing woman to carry babies but have no resources or help for during this process. But telling them they can walk blocks to maybe the closes restroom.
