I stayed here in June 2025 on my last night of a bicycle ride from Santa Barbara to San Diego. It is a nice facility and clean. Bathrooms are rather limited for men (the second floor has a single common toilet but also a women's shower, which I assume also has a toilet). The kitchen is good and spacious with needed utensils. There is a full service grocery store less than two blocks away. Nice outdoor seating area. Staff were helpful (but sometimes seemed missing). I have two complaints: 1. The music that played in common area (kitchen and dining room) is rather loud and of a genre I could not describe (I'm 62) other than to say it was annoying and at times offensive due to lyrics (F-bombs and misogyny). At one point, I looked for someone to report this to but found no one in the office. This is something that the hostel has within its power to improve. 2. Airplanes started taking off from the San Diego Airport three miles away at 6:30 AM. Every 5 to 10 minutes thereafter. That is something beyond the control of the hostel. Rooms have lockers for items needing security.

A positive hostel experience! I chose to stay here instead of some options in downtown San Diego because I wanted a quiet neighborhood. And this hostel has the highest rating. Though it’s close to the airport, the noise died down after midnight and it’s quiet enough for sleep, as long as your neighbors don’t make loud noise after quiet hour. A cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. The restroom is very clean!! Everything is well maintained.

Stayed here 12 years ago when the hostel was under different ownership, and it was lovely to be back—lovely staff, comfy beds, and clean premises. Awesome location. I am a very light sleeper so I slept with white noise in my earbuds and slept great. The walls are a bit thin. Highly recommend this place!

This place was very accommodating and flexible with my check ins and check out times. Andrea and Yaddy were both very kind when I arrived and greeted me. Mark was a cool theatre dude and aspiring actor with quite some talent. It’s a close walk down to the beach and in a nice safe area. I liked how you could make your own food and they let me use the grill to cook up some nice steaks! Thanks again :-)
