When asking yourself about something to do near me in San Diego with a group of friends or family, consider
Captain's Quarters

Why Captain's Quarters is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family
Captain's Quarters offers two distinct experiences under the same name, making it a versatile destination for both intimate gatherings and family vacations. For those seeking a sophisticated and atmospheric night out, the Captain's Quarters speakeasy bar in Pacific Beach transports guests to the 17th-century maritime era with its refined décor, luxurious mood lighting, and expertly crafted cocktails. This intimate venue, inspired by the private quarters of ship captains, provides an upscale yet cozy setting perfect for socializing with friends and enjoying a unique San Diego nightlife experience. On the other hand, the Captain's Quarters Resort in Myrtle Beach caters to families and beach lovers, providing convenient oceanfront accommodations, lively poolside entertainment, and proximity to local dining and shopping. The resort's amenities include spacious rooms with modern conveniences, making it an ideal "home away from home" where friends and families can relax, play, and enjoy the scenic coastal surroundings. Whether you're looking for an elegant night of cocktails or a vibrant family vacation destination by the sea, Captain's Quarters' dual offerings create appealing opportunities for memorable meet-ups and leisure moments.

Gorgeous bar with fun staff! Pricy coctails but that is to be expected considering the quality of their ingredients. The last orders was nice and not to sweet. The Island bird was fun and like a strawberry smoothie! And if you want and adventure try the Caliprina! Not gonna spoil that one for you!

This place has so much potential but there were a couple things that ruined the overall experience for me. To start with the positives, the food was tasty. We got warm olives, papas bravas, and halloumi fries. Drinks were pretty good too, but not strong. Interior decor is really cool, loved the nautical theme. As for the negatives, service was pretty poor from right when we walked in to when we left. Our bartender could barely hear us shouting our order to him because the music was so loud, and we had to try to flag him down multiple times before he came back to get our order. I don’t blame him, he did his job as fast as he could and there was a huge crowd of 20 or so that they’d just let in right after we sat down. It honestly felt more like we were in a club or your basic run of the mill bar more than a really cool speakeasy. It’s such a shame because I feel like this place has so much potential to be way better if they wanted it to be. But it seems to me like they would rather go for quantity than quality. We don’t think we’ll be coming back.

I recently visited Captain's Quarters in San Diego and was impressed by the intimate, nautical-themed atmosphere. Nestled near the water, it offers a cozy, yet refined, ambiance perfect for a relaxed evening. I started with their Old Fashioned, and it did not disappoint. The cocktail was expertly crafted, with a perfect balance of bourbon, bitters, and a hint of sweetness from the sugar cube. The large ice cube kept it chilled without diluting the flavors, while the orange peel garnish added a refreshing citrus aroma that enhanced each sip. For the appetizer, I tried the potato dish, which turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, seasoned to perfection with a blend of herbs and spices. The accompanying dipping sauce was rich and tangy, complementing the dish beautifully. It was a satisfying starter and set the tone for the rest of the meal. Overall, Captain's Quarters offers a great spot for classic cocktails and delicious bites, with a relaxed, welcoming vibe that’s ideal for both casual outings and special occasions. I’ll definitely be back!

What a fun speakeasy, especially during the fall with the Halloween decor! The highlights are definitely the ambiance and cocktails (gin forward). I agree with some others, it can get a little loud. However, we were there at opening and had most of the surrounding space to ourselves until around 6:00 PM. We took advantage of the happy hour (from 5:00-6:00, half off of cocktails). The cold brew martini and mai tai proved to be excellent choices. Believe it or not the complimentary popcorn was a nice, tasty surprise. I’m a little torn on how to rate the food. Table favorites included the prosciutto and manchego w/ berry jam grilled cheese and the papas bravas w/ garlic aioli. The Brussels sprouts and lamb shawarma were average. I found the portions to be extremely small considering the price, especially the short rib gordita crunch- 3 bite size pieces for $18. Yikes! And lastly, and much to my dismay because dessert is my favorite, the Fools Gold toffee cake dessert was a big disappointment. It was soooo dry and the yogurt did not seem to compliment the cake very well. I would still return, as the service we received was great and you cannot beat the ambiance. Happy hour is the way to go and if you’re still hungry, you can mosey over to a nearby restaurant.
