Went to see Siempre Flamenco (let's just say it left a lot to be desired). The Carnival Studio Theater is a small (250 seat) venue inside the Arsht Center. It is lacking in any interior design, looks like a black box. There is a lobby bar and small bathroom (2 stalls in ladies room). The lobby is livened up by a large, bold, glass mosaic mural by Cuban artist Cundo Bermudez. Entry was quick and easy via barcodes. There was a bag search and metal detector. The seats were padded and had plenty of legroom.

It was a nice location but they set the chairs up like a comedy show during the Black Diamond Cabaret and we really couldn't see over the people in front of us. I think theres better ways to do it like circles and semi circles. Most people seemed to be trying to look over each other or readjust their chairs.

It was a fantastic experience at the Carnival Studio Theater. The audience is so close to the performance, and it’s amazing to see all the facial expressions. It feels almost like a private showing!

I took my mom to watch the play "Clyde's" at the Carnival. The venue was easy to locate as we traveled from West Palm Beach to Miami. The play was really good. The lead actor is a classmate from high school and college. I promised a while back to catch one of her shows if I was ever in town. So, I had the opportunity. Took my godmother because she doesn't get out of the house much anymore.

I have wanted to do Summer Shorts for years!!! Finally made it and I was not disappointed! Each Short was very well done and made me laugh and think. The acting troop was top notch! I was awed by the capacity of the actors to believably play a number of diverse roles! Carnival Studio is a small, intimate theater with general admission seating for the event I went to. I have been here for a few performances and have never been let down. I definitely plan to to make this an annual event!

How does Carnival Studio Theater compare to other theaters?
Carnival Studio Theater offers a refreshing alternative to larger, more formal theaters thanks to its intimate size and diverse program. While venues with thousands of seats can create grand, spectacular productions, the smaller, more personal setting at Carnival Studio allows for a closer connection to the actors and story. It is often compared to Off-Broadway theaters in New York, known for showcasing a wider range of playwrights, experimental works, and emerging talent. The smaller size means performances can be more experimental or varied, such as presenting multiple short plays in one evening that appeal to those craving variety and innovation. It also supports productions that are more community-oriented or niche, addressing themes specific to South Florida’s population, making it unique within Miami’s cultural scene. This focus contributes to a diverse cultural offering not always found in larger, more commercial venues. For groups seeking a mix of high-quality professional theater and a warm, accessible environment, Carnival Studio Theater hits a distinctive sweet spot between artistic excellence and intimate entertainment.
