We came to celebrate our daughter’s achievement. I wanted to love our outing, but…we came early while there were plenty of seats, we were seated on the server’s walkway. We had focaccia bread which was great. I love scallops and ordered here, and could not eat them, looked awful too. Crispy octopus, so is Duck orecchiette were good, but not great. Got extra dessert, thank you. Limoncello was too sweet and no taste of lemon. Not sure why Michelin?

The interior was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, adding to the overall ambiance. A special touch was the personalized menu that had “Happy Birthday” printed on it, such a thoughtful detail! And the view? Absolutely stunning. Now, let’s talk about the food! We started with the Crispy Octopus appetizer, which was out of this world. For our mains, my husband had the Ziti Alla Genovese, while I enjoyed the Lobster Tajarin, both were simply phenomenal. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and as someone who is part Italian, I can confidently say this is an exceptional coastal Italian eatery. We can’t wait to return the next time we’re in San Diego!

I had dinner at the bar with a friend and enjoyed the tagliatelle all portofino which was absolutely delicious—I highly recommend it. We also shared the pizza focaccia, which was a great choice. My margarita was also well made. While the food and atmosphere were excellent, the service left something to be desired. Our server was not very attentive, and we had to ask for a dessert menu since it wasn’t offered to us. That being said, if you’re looking for great Italian food in a beautiful setting, Catania is still worth a visit—just be prepared for service that might not match the quality of the food.
