I just completed Eli's Intro to woodworking Course and after the 1st class I already knew that Eli was a very knowledgeable and great teacher and with each passing class he continued to confirm what I learned about him on day one. This man really truly cares about helping his students learn, creating a clean and respectful environment to learn, and providing them with the (metaphorical) tools they need to get their projects done right. He also has the best jokes (If you know you know). I definitely recommend taking one of his courses if your interested in woodworking, it was a great experience.

I just completed Eli's Intro to Woodworking course, and I can't wait to continue after such a fantastically fun series! Eli was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but he was also one of the most passionate instructors I've had. What started out feeling like a simple class turned into anything but: the goal was to make a box, and little did I know the level of detail and intention that'd we'd learn to hone throughout the course. Eli helped us really think like a woodworker, not just "make a simple box," and this was more invaluable than I anticipated. He was also so helpful with the practical things: proper tool technique, vocabulary, building confidence arouns very sharp objects, the list goes on! I was very happy to take this course.

I'm taking the intro to woodworking class and absolutely love it. Our instructor, Eli, is so passionate about teaching and makes me look forward to Mondays! Anyone with an interest in carpentry or likes to work with their hands can join, you don't need any experience. In this class, we're making a simple box with different joinery on each corner. We've been learning to use a multitude of tools that aren't in the average garage or basement like a plainer, joiner, and a very large table saw. I can't wait to finish the box and use it in the kitchen to store kosher salt. I'll definitely be taking the second level and the cabinetry class, I have so many ideas for projects now.

Similar to other reviews mixed in below, Eli did not give me a refund despite only teaching 3 of 4 classes. He “postponed” our last class after cancelling twice before, then went radio silent on multiple emails and requests for a refund. It has now been more than two months since his last email to us (attached). I feel awful saying this (and so rarely post negative reviews) because he seems like a good guy otherwise and clearly cares about the craft — but it feels unethical not to warn others!
