Why Chicago Prohibition Tours is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Chicago Prohibition Tours offers an immersive adults-only experience that uniquely brings to life the stirring history of Chicago during the 1920s Prohibition era. Founded by local Chicago tourism experts Jonathan Porter and Jonathan Knotek, this tour stands out due to its authentic and passionate portrayal of the city’s gripping gangster past.[1] Over approximately three and a half hours, guests embark on a lively journey visiting four historic bars and speakeasies, including a steakhouse established in 1872, nestled in prominent neighborhoods such as Old Town, Wicker Park, and the Chicago Loop.[2][5] Traveling comfortably by air-conditioned coach with no more than 20 fellow guests ensures a personal and engaging atmosphere. As you move from location to location, skilled guides narrate stories of infamous mobsters like Al Capone, bootleggers, cops, and the societal impact of the temperance movement during the alcohol ban. The experience is both educational and entertaining, with opportunities to sample classic 1920s cocktails or signature drinks recommended by the guides, blending history with convivial socializing. The tour’s careful curation, historical authenticity, and expert narration make it a compelling meetup spot for friends seeking a unique, entertaining, and informative outing in Chicago’s vibrant cultural landscape.

This was hands down one of the funnest tours I've ever been on. Johnathan is very knowledgeable & entertaining. I loved all the history and fun facts. And what's not to love about having some cocktails while being bussed around & learning some new stuff. It is well worth the money and the time flys by when you're having fun! I highly recommend it. And I would definitely do it again.

A Must-Do in Chicago! 10/10 Jonathan was an incredible tour guide—knowledgeable, funny, and full of energy! He had a great way of weaving stories together that kept the entire tour engaging and memorable. His mix of history and humor really brought the Prohibition era to life. This was our first time visiting Chicago, and booking this tour was my idea. I'm happy to say my whole family absolutely loved it! We even capped off the experience with a meal at Harry Caray’s afterward, which was the perfect ending. If you're in Chicago and have some free time, definitely take the Prohibition Walking Tour. You won’t regret it, such a fun and fascinating way to explore the city!

We started our tour at the Exchequer Pub where Al Capone frequented. Jonathan is passionate about sharing the history of the people and places when prohibition came to Chicago. We had a small group making our tour feel very intimate. Jonathan was patient with the questions and comments we had! We ended the tour at Harry Carey’s. I have been several times but wasn’t aware of the Netti Vault and the secret passages from prohibition times. It was captivating! Thank you Jonathan for a great afternoon.
