I attended a concert for Elle Varner a couple of days ago and had a ball! I got there when the doors opened an hour before the show so I could have dinner. My waitress Joanne was so pleasant and the food and drinks were good. I miss when the events had a more extensive menu (there were more options when I went to the Eric Bennet concert a couple years back) but otherwise no complaints. Will be back in the fall for a comedy show, love the live events that city winery puts on. 👏🏾👏🏾💜

Long story short, they advertised $25 tickets but I was unable to purchase it online when they were no longer available but still being offered online. I called and purchased it over the phone but they wouldn't honor the sale price, saying there's only a certain amount of sale tickets. Apologized for the developers not updating the website to reflect that. I emailed them and the responder was condescending and only refunded me $17 worth of fees begrudgingly. I was coming from Georgia and my friend Virginia, the show was great but you're required to spend at least $25 during the show. We ordered truffle fries, chicken wings and shrimp skewers. We'd finished the shrimp and truffle fries by the time they brought out the 6 chicken wings. They're small plates so don't expect to get full. That totaled $65. I love the intimate venue but it's definitely a tight space! We lucked up and there was no one else at our table. After 7 was great but even they had to adjust to the small stage, squeezing by one another. Not first time at City Winery and probably like my last but that ticket experience really turned me off!

Going Off Some Reviews, I Thought My Experience Was Going To Be Filled With The Thought Of Seating Being Entirely Too Close & Impossible To Move Around. WRONG! Our Table Was Perfect! I Was Able To Move Around & Vibe With The Talent, Loveee It!!!!! Food & Drinks Was Good. My Overall Experience Was Absolutely Fantastic, Can't Wait To Go Again.

The greeters were very nice and bubbly, and being escorted to our seats was a nice experience. The wings, French fries, and meatballs were good but were slightly overpriced. The service was quick, but the waiters didn't know who ordered what, so they interrupted patrons who were watching the show to ask them if they ordered the food they carried by the tables. The drinks were pretty good. The seating is HORRIBLE because we were too close to each other because the tables were very small, and we felt like we were packed into a table with other strangers like sardines. I didn't like being forced to pay for food after purchasing tickets. Also, my waitress NEVER checked on us after she took our order, so I DID NOT LEAVE HER A TIP, but why did I get charged for a $18 tip for a $90 bill. My bank resolved this, but I gave CITY WINERY an opportunity to address this first, and they didn't apologize or give me an explanation. The stage and sound quality were AMAZING, but the tightly crowded seating arrangements were horrible and made us feel very uncomfortable! The DISHONEST waitress who stole an UNDESERVED TIP and the packed-like-sardines seating arrangements are the reasons why my brother and I WON'T BE EVER RETURNING TO CHICAGO CITY WINERY! Save your money and go to a local bar with good food, space, and good service! This place is OVERRATED!🙄🙄🙄

What activities are available at City Winery Chicago that make it perfect for a group meetup? One of the biggest draws is the live music venue. City Winery hosts a variety of concerts featuring artists across genres in a well-designed space with excellent acoustics and a stage that creates a close connection between performers and their audiences. Groups can enjoy shows from both emerging and established musicians, making it a hotspot for music lovers. The venue is small enough to feel intimate but large enough to accommodate many guests, facilitating a shared experience that is easy to enjoy with friends. Alongside the music, the winery aspect offers tastings of wines made on site, which adds a unique element. You and your friends can sample different varietals in a relaxed, classy setting, turning a night out into a mini wine education and tasting session. This dual attraction of wine and live music differentiates City Winery and makes it an attractive spot for groups with varied interests.

How does City Winery Chicago cater to food and drink preferences for groups? The venue offers a menu of inventive dishes meant to pair well with their wines. Though some reviews have critiqued portion sizes and prices, the overall food quality leans towards creative bar and casual fare that complements the drinking experience. This includes cheese plates, salads, paninis, and tacos that are well-suited for sharing in a group setting. Bar service is professional and flexible, with cocktails also available alongside their wine offerings. Although the proprietary wines have mixed reviews, many guests appreciate having wines “on tap” and enjoying the novelty of drinking freshly crafted vintages made at the location. The combination of practical, shareable plates and a diverse drink menu makes City Winery a great spot for friends who want an enjoyable dining experience without the formality of a traditional restaurant. It supports relaxed socializing, perfect for conversation and celebrations.

Why is the location of City Winery Chicago ideal for hosting meetups? Situated in the West Loop, one of Chicago’s trendy neighborhoods, the venue benefits from easy accessibility through public transit and ample nearby parking, making it convenient for groups coming from different parts of the city. The venue also offers an outdoor wine garden on the Chicago Riverwalk, providing beautiful views of the river and Marina City, which enhances the ambiance especially in warm weather. The typically well-run service and staff professionalism reflect positively on group events, enhancing the overall experience. The intimate concert setting means that no one feels lost in the crowd but instead part of an engaging community event, which is ideal when you want to rally with friends and share moments together. However, it is worth noting that seating can be a little tight during concerts, which might feel cramped at times, but for many, this closeness adds to the electric atmosphere of live performances. Along with the music and wine, this environment fosters conversation, laughter, and enjoyment —the core elements for any successful group meetup.

Can City Winery Chicago accommodate special events or private group gatherings? Yes, the venue is also a popular choice for weddings, corporate events, and large parties due to its flexible space and comprehensive services.
