Outstanding experience at Clyde’s Prime Rib! The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and tender. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in Portland. Highly recommend! The cocktails are great

Clyde’s is a staple in the NE Portland area. The lounge has a great retro feel and often has great live music. I ate in the dining room side this time. The rack of lamb was delicious. We did wait a bit for our server to come to the table, but he apologized and the rest of the service was great. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food and overall the experience.

Amazing resturant overall, Specifically I had the French Onion Soup, Cobb Salad and Chocolate cake. In order the soup was cheesy and hot with delightful flavor, the onion and croutons held perfect texture. The onions nearly carmelized and the bread had soaked in the liquid of the soup BUT didnt disolve or lose its texture. The cob salad was the best ive had in i cant remember. The chicken is grilled with love and flavor that shows in the texture and smoky flavor of the meat. The dressing is light with extra bluecheese crumbles supported by a mix of lettuce that was crisp and perfectly cut. Lastly the chocolate cake. It was a tad dryer than I prefer BUT the flavor was rich and the frosting rewarding. If I ordered it agian i would get it with a side of vanilla. The staff was amazing handling our party of 30ish efficient and all our dishes came out in synced waves that truly impressed. Wait staff was knowledgeable about menu items and allergens present. The atmosphere at Clydes is special. It is a resturant with unique importance to the area and has stood the test of time. It is clear to see why that is. I hope to return again soon!

A bit of a disappointment for sure. I went during happy hour for the prime rib bites and creamed spinach (original recipe from the 50s it says on the menu) and an IPA. The best thing was the IPA. The actual prime rib was a good concept, ruined by execution. The meat was cooked to perfection, with a creamy horseradish sauce drizzled on top and some freshly cut scallions. So far so good. And then they decided to make prime rib soup by putting this in a pasta bowl and pouring a cup and a half of canned beef broth on top. Ruined the horseradish drizzle and put that awful flavor of canned broth for the prime rib to swim in. Yuck! The creamed spinach came accompanied with some kind of garlic bread. Both fell victim to the idea of “it needs something, so let’s use some grated cheese. And let’s put it on both the creamed spinach AND on the bread. We need a new chef or at least someone who a) actually likes prime rib, and b) who doesn’t wince at the thought of smothering not just one, but both the creamed spinach and the toasted bread with grated cheese. In summation: lose the canned beef broth, ditch the grated cheese. Get a slightly higher quality of French bread and do less to it. I don’t think I’ll come back. And I had such high hopes for this place. They say the “au jus” is made from scratch daily. The amount of au jus occurring from the cooking of the prime rib is very small and a cherished commodity. Perhaps they add that to the canned broth and label the entire entity as made from scratch. Canned broth has a distinct flavor which is at the extreme opposite of the flavor of “au jus”. I stand by my comments.
