Community First! Village is a unique and compassionate tiny home community located just outside Austin, Texas, designed specifically to provide affordable, permanent housing and a supportive environment for individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness. Founded in 2015 by Alan Graham and managed by the nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes, this 51-acre master-planned village accommodates approximately 400 residents in tiny homes and RVs, fostering a true sense of neighborhood and belonging. Residents, affectionately called neighbors, pay affordable rent ranging from $225 to $500 monthly, providing stability that is often missing from transitional housing. The village goes beyond shelter by cultivating community through various amenities such as gathering halls, an outdoor movie theater, a farmers market, and a library, along with regular social and cultural events including church services, open mic nights, and gardening days. These offerings emphasize personal growth, dignity, and connection, helping residents rediscover their talents and rebuild their lives in a nurturing environment. The site itself was previously vacant ranch land, strategically chosen for its accessibility to utilities while maintaining a quiet, outskirt location that supports tranquility.

I just moved here a couple of weeks ago and I love it so far. I'll probably stay here the rest of my life. The rent is like $515 a month. There's no indoor plumbing in the tiny homes. You have to carry your water from the restrooms and shower building there are within 45ft any home. They have a convenience store and a medical clinic and a small theater and chickens. There's a place called the living room where everyone hangs out. They've got a big art building and it's called The entrepreneur building or something like that I suppose they teach you how to make some art that you can sell. That makes sense because some art sells for millions of dollars. My next door neighbor here he paints a lot and his paintings look like the famous painter Jackson Pollock's work. So the lack of indoor plumbing is the only negative I can see so far and that's not really that big of a deal. You just have to go to the showers with a bucket and bring some back. There are showers and restrooms. They also have like these little campers. They're a little bigger and I believe they have plumbing in them. But the rent is amazing,! I remember hearing that the average price for a one-bedroom studio in Austin Texas is 1400.00 a month. I'm from a tiny Town in Tennessee and they're $500 a month will get you a whole house on 5 acres Land. That's because nobody wants to live there including me

Decent place. Lived there almost six years. Changed for the worse in my opinion. If you're ever accused, you're guilty, regardless of proof. Been homeless since I left there last August. Lost everything I acquired there, everything! Hoping to be re admitted soon.

This place is revitalizing, it works, and is breathtaking to see in action…in person. More cities would do well to take note and copy this roadmap in their own communities. It’s so needed and obtainable and they did a beautiful job, from the ethos to the homes, to the street names. Why every city doesn’t have this is insanity. It gives much inspiration and hope to see in person.

Saves the lost and forlorn. Gives them another chance. A place to be safe. Help is available. A pilot program for other cities. A Miracle.

These people are changing the world, quite literally. This community is one that provides not only daily essentials, but also brings people hope when they're at a low point in life. Visiting here, staying for a weekend, and serving is an amazing experience and puts life in perspective. The people here are some the friendliest, and will take you on a tour of the property to show you all the amenities... kitchens, bathrooms, event center, theater, etc. Come for a movie night or just to hang out. 10/10 would recommend.
