HIDDEN GEM IN SAN DIEGO I’ve been with CSC club in San Diego for nearly a year and I frequently visit San Diego and sailing is an important objective for me. I am absolutely delighted with the club, members and services which is member volunteer driven that includes new member sailing training both in class as well as in the water. The fee is very moderate and compared to other for profit sailing club. The club has about 16 sailing boats anchored at the West Marina club in San Diego Harbor and the system is super efficient in that members themselves sign in and out using a well organized system. This being a low cost Sailing club, there is no office or paid staff, but still driven by member volunteers. However, there is a structured organization with meetings and elections, and get together with friends and families. It also has a structured instructions for the newcomers, including PDF instruction books for sailing preparation and practices. It is truly remarkable that such an efficient system purely driven by volunteers and members that keeping the cost or yearly fee low. Please check this out.

As an amateur sailor, who's sailing experience is limited to sailing 18' Hobie Cats, plus crewing on Lightnings on Long Island Sound, I find the members in this club to be good role models for anyone interested in learning to sail and/or advancing their skills. It is a well managed sailing club. Being new to sailing in San Diego Harbor, I know I have much to learn and have much confidence in the level of mentorship Convair Sailing Club provides. Do come visit them and at one of their events or poolside BBQ's.
