This is in my top 5 favorite thrift stores in Chicago! I can usually find 1-2 pieces each time I come. I appreciate the athletic section. Prices are a bit high, but usually with what I buy, it’s fair. The store is always cleanly and well organized. However, I didn’t have the greatest experience selling with them. When I received the clothes back they decided not to purchase, the employee commented on how they “do not accept fast fashion.” I was offended by this statement, as I do not purchase from or support fast fashion brands. I asked what she meant, as none of the clothes I brought in applied to that statement. She then referred to the 2 Oh Polly ($400) dresses I brought. I informed her that Oh Polly and Princess Polly are two different brands. She then just changed the conversation quickly by stating the dresses would be hard to sell. That’s understandable and not a problem for me, but the conversation leading up to that point did bother me. (Also, I’ve definitely found PRINCESS Polly on their shelves, which is fast fashion.) I haven’t been back since but I do see myself coming back in the later future to continue thrifting as usual.

DO NOT SELL HERE! I never take time to write reviews like this, but I’ve now had two very negative experiences here. I brought virtually brand new, expensive on-trend clothing each time I can and the staff visibly laughed at my items before handing everything back (I wish was I exaggerating). They are unprofessional and have no clue what they are looking at. Do not waste your time dealing with such unkind and unwelcoming employees…

Prices are above average compared to a traditional thrift store, but because they sell designer names and trendy clothes I feel their prices are justified. Compared to Goodwill they're buying clothes based on trends with no stains or signs of wear so this may lower your chances of what you sell. Crossroads Trading is very clean and well organized with around 10 fitting rooms so there is no bottleneck waiting in line to try on clothes. I appreciate Crossroads Trading organizes its clothes by size as other second-hand stores like Second Street do not. I have found some really great finds here - a Loft Faux Leather jacket for $40 (originally $180) and Lululemon leggings for $20. Because this location is located in Lincoln Park there is always a line to sell clothes. My dream is that they hire more cashiers to help get more patrons selling clothes through the line faster. I waited 45 minutes mid-day on a Tuesday to sell clothes. I do admire that they have a digital sign-in system to contact you when it is your turn to sell, and a rack to put your clothes on while you wait because then you can bop around Lincoln Park doing other errands.

I would like to begin by stating that my initial experiences selling at this Crossroads location were perfectly fine. I have my own Depop shop and wanted to branch out and try selling at Crossroads, as I have heard great things about it—and who doesn't appreciate cash on the spot? However, today I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I was offered $20 cash and $30 store credit for the following items: - A Coach necklace - A brand new with tags Nike Men's X Euphoria Jersey - A vintage Nike windbreaker featuring the "Swoosh" logo If you are familiar with vintage clothing, you would know that these details when it comes to Nike are incredibly rare. I requested to have my items returned, as I was shocked by this offer. Crossroads claims that the staff is trained and knows what is on "trend " but when you look around you see the same type of clothes with little to no difference. They also have no idea what "vintage" is. I understand that you need to make a profit, but at this price? It feels like predatory buying. Additionally, I noticed while walking through the store that they definitely cater to a specific demographic, offering little to no diversity in sizes and the types of people who will eventually buy their clothing. If its not Zara, Free People, or Lululemon do not waste your time. They definitely are selling to a certain demographic, which is insane because the majority of their employees do not dress like their target audience. I also think it's interesting that some items get rejected for a minor blemish, yet as I browsed the shop, I spotted numerous items with stains that were still up for sale with "as is" labels. The girl who looked through my items stated she couldn't take one because of a stain. Additionally, I came across two counterfeit designer pieces. If you're going to enforce all these standards when it comes to buying from sellers, then at the very least, ensure that you are following your own policies as a retailer. The hypocrisy is honestly staggering. Note to the staff: Maybe don't laugh at the items people are bringing to sell while they are present. Completely unprofessional. I also agree with other reviews that state they tend to turn away POC. It seems like they cater more to the Caucasian sellers that come in. Not a good look. Do better.

If you want to sell something there - don't waste your time. I brought 4 big suitcases with clothes and 2 huge bags with shoes (mostly Nike, The north face, Columbia, H&M and so on) almost all the things were in perfect condition. They took only 3 items!!! On the plus side - good price. But it was absolutely not worth the time spent.
