Looking to grab a beer in Old Town on a hot afternoon before a show at another venue, and wouldn’t ya know it, Dante’s was right across the street. It was dark and cool inside and the beer was cold … and they had some wacky comedy open mic going on, so - free entertainment! It was terrible but, oh well. I’ve only ever been to Dante’s late at night to see bands, so it was interesting to experience it in the afternoon with like 5 people there. The Pizza Slut window was open, which was good to see, but I wasn’t hungry. A rock club in the daytime without crowds is a whole different animal, but in this case I was glad to just chill for awhile and cool off. I couldn’t wait to get outta there though once my beer was done.
Fun 1 PS
This is a great place to catch a show, great sound, great staff and small enough to make any show up close and personal. This was my second show there albeit with a large gap between. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more shows here in the future. Big thanks to the entire staff for making it an amazing evening

Saw The Exploited on March 5, 2025. Excellent venue of course for these bands. The place was packed but outside was surprisingly clear of potential troublemakers. Inside there's beer and pizza, though I wasn't there for the food- mosh pit and stage headbanging for me. The Exploited are an amazing Scottish punk band who somehow manage to afford to come to Portland, Oregon. Vids are on YouTube, other shows but hopefully Portland soon. Energy Plus!! Dante's was the perfect size for them and Total Chaos and the others. Wattie and the band sure had a great time. There was plenty of room for the mosh pit-inclined, those who wanted to stand back, a side area for the merchandise tables, a small seating area upstairs and nice entry control Thank You Very Much, Dante's - a safe space inside. I saw Black Flag here in 83. I can't believe Dante's has been able to hold on so long. That tells you they're doing something right, and they're doing it honestly, or they would have run the business to the ground by now.

Fun! Good bars and Pizza. Saw Angelmaker and other Metal bands last week. Awesome show for about 400-500 standing audience. Great sound! I was surprised at what a great venue this was. Parking nearby. Great food all around the area. I'll be back!

Dante's oozes personality. It's an increasingly rare commodity in the modern world. Dante's is a bar and small performance venue. It's dark and rough, with a stage, dance floor, and two bars on either side. The staff is competent and reasonably friendly. I was at Dante's Saturday for the US Air Guitar Regional Championships. It was a great venue for that. At halftime a couple of the house acts - an aerialist duo and a fire dancer - performed for tips. They were great. The bars have limited taps but otherwise are quite serviceable. Had a good time as always.
