We had so much fun! Check- in was smooth, lockers were large and easy to use. Restrooms were clean and staff were friendly. You can bring your own skates or rent them. Music was fantastic and the moves from the choreographed dancers were glorious. Skate in the sun was a trip. It’s hot af so dress appropriately. Can’t wait to go back and try the disco after dark. 3 hours was a good time block to actually enjoy it and rest when needed. We grabbed food before at Serendipity which isn’t too far away. It’s a beautiful walk through Central Park to get there. We even saw sightings of some animals from the zoo. Make a day trip out of it. You won’t be disappointed.

This was an amazing experience! When I Originally bought tickets, I thought it was a little pricey at $55, but I really wanted to check it out. However, once I got there, I realized the $55 was totally worth it! There was a live DJ with the perfect playlist, the decor and vibe was really well done (it didn’t even feel like we were in Central Park!), and there were tons of professional skaters dancing among the crowd. The experience was so fun, and the professionals were highly talented and entertaining! I 100% recommend this for anyone who likes to skate or just wants to experience something new in the city. Perfect for families or with your friends. Perfect for any age.

Remember the Ira Hurricane was passing by.......I had tickets for Oct 1, Sat at 5:30. Had been in communication via email with discoasis about weather and was told it will not be cancelled until the time of if necessary. I was told I could reschedule for the day before on Friday and emailed requesting but I never got a response, therefore I had to go on Saturday my original date. As my husband and I are waiting excitedly to get in, it started raining. The morning session had already been cancelled due to the rain, and the staff was drying the rink to hopefully open the 5:30 session. A staff crew addressed the people on line that due to the weather it would take hours before opening if opening and we can get reimbursed. We went to the booth to get reimbursed. I bought the skate rental via discoasis and they reimbursed me the money for that with no problem. However, due to me buying my tickets from plumbenefits, my employer's discount website for employees, the ticket agent told me I had to contact plumbenefits for reimbursement for the event tickets. As we were driving home the rain got stronger and stronger. We were happy to be able to get a refund. I called plumbenefits and made a claim while in the car. Now, at this point, I had made two claims and was denied. I only have emails indicating that it would not be cancelled even after the event was finished. The last day being Sunday. And received an email indicating I was reimbursed. I replied that was only for the skate rental and no one, after numerous emails explaining my situation, has responded. Arriving at the event was a beautiful scene and was glad that we were able to participate to only get disappointed and having to go back home. I am only asking that they consent to allow plum benefits to reimburse me as we were not able to skate due to the rain. It's very unpleasant to not get what you paid for.

It's the perfect place to roller skate with friends, loved ones, or a new romantic interest. If you hate fun, this is not the place for you because there is nothing but fun to be had here. I understand when it rains the place can't operate. But they say on their website check their social media for updates. The forecast said the rain was supposed to stop. So they loudly pronounced on IG that they were currently drying the floor and definitely would be open. So I spent a whole hour on the train getting there for them to cancel the session. But they didn't announce the cancelation on their IG for 1 hour and 15 minutes into the session. I could have not wasted the 2 hours round-trip had they just updated ticket holders. I was soooo irritated.

Why rally at DiscOasis with your friends? DiscOasis offers a unique blend of retro roller skating and disco-themed entertainment that can turn a simple outing into a memorable social experience. Although it has garnered mixed reviews, the concept of gliding on skates inside a vibrant, music-filled atmosphere rings true for groups looking to mix nostalgia, fun, and physical activity. Gathering your friends here means tapping into an energetic vibe enhanced by disco music, colorful lighting, and a communal spirit that encourages everyone to let loose and enjoy the moment. Positioned near Central Park's Wollman Rink in New York City, it provides a convenient and iconic locale that makes it easy to combine your skate session with other outdoor activities or dining options nearby. Even with some critics pointing out issues like pricing or the rink's surface, the sheer novelty and group-oriented setup make it a compelling meetup spot for those who want to break away from typical bars or restaurants and share a lively, active experience.

DiscOasis is particularly suited for group meetups because roller skating is inherently a social activity. It encourages interaction through shared physical challenges—whether you're beginners helping one another balance or seasoned skaters showing off moves. This place offers more than just skating; it provides a disco-themed atmosphere complete with a centerpiece stage setup that occasionally hosts shows, amplifying the entertainment factor. Its weekend-only schedule, albeit limiting, means that when open, the venue is geared towards maximizing a festive, party-like environment. For friends seeking a fun night out that combines exercise, music, and a flashy retro ambiance, this rink delivers a distinct flavor compared to standard nightlife spots. The ability to rent skates, dance to classic disco tunes, and engage in a group activity that fosters camaraderie makes DiscOasis a standout destination for social gatherings.

What activities can groups enjoy at DiscOasis?\ At DiscOasis, the primary activity is roller skating inside a disco-inspired rink that features vibrant lighting and thematic music that keeps the energy high. The rink itself is relatively spacious, allowing groups ample room to skate together or organize friendly races and games. The venue occasionally offers shows or special events which add layers of visual and auditory engagement beyond just skating. These performances can be great conversation starters or break moments during a meetup. Groups are also likely to find themed skating parties or DJ nights which elevate the experience by integrating dance, music, and skating into a cohesive party vibe.

Beyond skating, the social nature of the venue encourages mingling in between laps, making it excellent for catching up or celebrating special occasions like birthdays or weekend reunions. The disco music soundtrack provides a nostalgic backdrop that appeals to a range of ages, sparking smiles and shared memories. Although there is no active bar service reported, the location near Central Park means groups can easily start or end their outing with food and drinks at nearby establishments, enhancing the overall gathering.

Why is DiscOasis perfect for a group meetup?\ DiscOasis is perfect for a group meetup because it offers an immersive experience that combines physical activity, music, and a vibrant social environment—all of which are key ingredients for building fun memories together. Skating together naturally promotes bonding as participants encourage, assist, and cheer each other on, strengthening friendships through shared challenges and laughter. The unique disco theme adds an element of novelty and excitement, enabling the group to experience a form of recreation that most people do not encounter regularly.

Additionally, the venue’s size and setup cater well to groups, providing sufficient space to skate without feeling crowded, yet intimate enough to keep the group connected. The combination of roller skating and disco tunes means the experience is dynamic—physical yet playful, nostalgic but lively. It stands out compared to more static social settings like cafes or movie theaters, offering a more hands-on, energetic way to spend time with friends or family. For groups looking to do something different, DiscOasis’s vibe encourages everyone to loosen up and enjoy a shared adventure, creating lasting impressions and plenty of photo opportunities.

How do the facilities and location enrich the DiscOasis experience?\ DiscOasis is located at the historic Wollman Rink near the southeast corner of Central Park, New York City, which situates it amidst one of the city’s most scenic and beloved areas. This prime location allows groups to combine outdoor strolls, picnics, or visits to nearby attractions with their roller skating outing. The rink’s setting near Central Park adds a layer of urban charm and accessibility, making it easy for friends traveling by public transport or walking from various parts of the city to converge without hassle.

The rink itself includes a disco-themed centerpiece that enhances the skating atmosphere with visual flair, turning skating into a spectacle rather than just a casual sport. While some reviewers have found the rink's surface less than perfect, the overall aesthetic and vibe do help offset imperfections by immersing guests in a themed adventure. Though the venue’s hours are limited to weekends and the pricing can feel steep, these factors ensure that when visitors come, the focus remains on concentrated, high-energy social sessions that replicate the energy of a weekend party or event.

What should groups expect regarding the cost and timing at DiscOasis?\ Groups planning a meetup at DiscOasis should anticipate paying a premium for the experience, with admission fees reportedly around $50 to $70 per person for limited skate sessions. This cost includes access to the rink and skate rentals, but it has been a point of contention among visitors who expected more comprehensive amenities, such as open bars or longer skating hours. The rink is typically open only on weekends with limited time slots, which means advance planning is crucial to ensure everyone in the group can attend together.

The cost and timing might be justified for groups seeking an exclusive, themed outing rather than a casual drop-in. However, the price may feel steep compared to other recreational options, especially for those not used to roller skating or those expecting a broader party atmosphere. Budget-conscious groups might consider combining the skating session with other budget-friendly activities nearby to maximize the value of their day or evening out.

How do user reviews impact the decision to host a group at DiscOasis?\ User reviews of DiscOasis present a mixed picture that groups should consider before gathering here. Some reviews criticize the rink for being overpriced, having a plastic surface that affects skating quality, and lacking atmosphere or amenities like open bars. Others highlight the good music selection and the general quality of the themed environment. The average rating of 3.6 out of 5, based on about 14 reviews, suggests a moderately positive view but also points to issues that might affect overall satisfaction.

Groups should weigh these critiques against what they want out of their meetup. If the priority is a unique venue with a disco roller skating blend in a central location, DiscOasis still holds appeal, especially for those who value nostalgia and physical activity. However, if low cost or extended amenities are a must, alternative venues might work better. Understanding these perspectives can help groups manage expectations, plan accordingly, and perhaps focus more on the social and active aspects than the venue's imperfections.

What are tips for making the most out of a meetup at DiscOasis?\ To maximize enjoyment at DiscOasis, groups should plan ahead by securing tickets for the limited weekend sessions early, ensuring everyone can participate together. Wearing comfortable clothing suitable for skating and possibly bringing protective gear will help both experienced and novice skaters feel confident and safe. Since the rink does not seem to have full bar services, arranging a nearby dining or drink meet-up before or after skating can enhance the overall social experience and help with pacing the event.

Sharing skating tips or beginner encouragement within the group can improve confidence and fun, turning any initial awkwardness into collective laughter and bonding. Taking photos or videos under the disco lights will help memorialize the event and add to the enjoyment. Finally, embracing the spirit of play and not focusing solely on skating ability is key—after all, DiscOasis thrives on the festive, social energy that rolling on wheels among friends can generate.

DiscOasis stands out as a niche but memorable venue perfect for groups eager to combine active fun, retro music vibes, and a distinctive urban setting. With thoughtful planning, it can become an exceptional choice for a group meetup that offers more than just a gathering—an experience.
