The community center is no longer open to the public. the building is rented to a private school on weekdays and rented out to groups on the weekends. no open public access hours at all. the small park outside is accessible to the public but this is no longer a community center.

A pleasant and vintage community building with a play ground and big grassy area. The city is thinking of closing it down because of budgeting. Every Saturday night at 7:00 there is an open contra dance. Free lesson and beginners encouraged. The social dance is welcoming to everyone and you don't have to come with a partner!

This is where I have done contradancing many times with Portland country dance community. They are a great bunch of people, and dislocation is lovely.

The Fulton Park Community Center is an older building with a large interior space and wood floors. It's in a delightful grassy park and well sheltered from the noise of the city in spite of the fact that it is wedged between Barbour Blvd and I-5. Highly recommended as a meeting place for events not requiring furniture. My first experience with the building was a yoga retreat and it was perfect for that. Regular contra dances are why most people come here. The parking area is more than adequate for most events and parking can spill onto city streets for a big turnout.
Celeste Navrkal
Went to a Contra dance there from 7:30PM (lesson) to 11PM, that occurs every Saturday. Really great people, older crowd yet mixed with the younger generation to help keep it going. Great aerobic exercise. Drink plenty of water. Go out to a McMenemins bar to visit afterwards.
