First time visiting Golden Gardens Park--and wow, what a gem! It feels like one of Seattle's best-kept secrets, especially for locals who know where to go for some peace by the water. The beach is absolutely stunning, with sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains in the distance. Whether you're into sunbathing, swimming, beach volleyball , or just strolling along the shore, there's something for everyone here. One of the best parts is the convenience--there's a good amount of free parking, which is a rare treat in Seattle! Just try to come early, especially on weekends or holidays, as it can get busy. The vibe is laid-back and family-friendly, with picnic areas, fire pits, and lots of space to relax. We had such a great time and can't wait to come back. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful day by the ocean. Cheers!

Golden Gardens beach is my happy place I take my golden retriever early in the morning for a swim, before most humans show up since they don’t allow dogs on the beach. But he is swimming in the ocean, not on the beach. Anyway, this is a great spot for lounging in the sun or play beach volleyball.

Golden Gardens is a beach on the northwest side of Ballard, right through the Sunset Hill neighborhood. Parking here can be a disaster sometimes, especially weekends or nice afternoons so be prepared to park at the marina and walk a bit or wait a while. For some reason, people forget how to drive when they get here so pay attention when coming through here. There is a little shop at the beach that sells food and beach toys, coupled with bathrooms right behind the playground area. The beach is split in two - the sandy side where people play or go in the water, and the rocky side where people walk to find shells and such. This is a popular spot for big groups, coming to either use the grills or setup on the north side. Definitely a spot to come to if you're here anytime between March and October, even if it's just to see the sailboats or even some wildlife in the sound.

Parking lots open early, but during busy periods arriving early increases the chances of convenient parking. Dogs, while welcome in off-leash areas, are not allowed on the sand or playgrounds to comply with municipal codes, a regulation that groups should respect to avoid fines and preserve park harmony. Finally, being mindful of posted park hours and rules guarantees both safety and respect for this cherished public space.
