Why Grassroots Leadership is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family
Grassroots Leadership is a nationally recognized civil and human rights organization based in Austin and Houston, Texas, dedicated to ending prison profiteering and combating mass incarceration. Founded in 1980 by Si Kahn, a veteran civil rights activist, the organization focuses on building progressive, multi-racial social justice power through community organizing and strategic campaigns. With a richly diverse membership that includes those with lived experiences of incarceration as well as allies, Grassroots Leadership fosters a community-oriented, abolition-minded approach that reimagines society without policing and for-profit prisons. Their work includes training, supporting members to engage in policy advocacy and leadership roles, and operating campaigns throughout Texas and nationally. Grassroots Leadership prides itself on creating spaces to learn from one another, heal, and push forward abolitionist thinking, all while explicitly centering equity by ensuring diverse representation in leadership. This makes Grassroots Leadership not only a hub for effective justice advocacy but also a powerful place for connecting and collaborating with like-minded individuals committed to transformative social change.

This organization does not respect the rights of those who choose to volunteer or work for them, by that I mean the predators they protect are allowed to commit assault and other offenses Scot free and noone. Especially the director Bob Libal will bat an eye, until publically pressured. Then if you show up to their demonstrations, at a reasonable distance he will try to turn the cops on you. Luckily the cops understood I had the right to counter protest.
