Just had an experience on 23rd Avenue in NW Portland where I knew I had no money to donate but hate being rude to people just doing their job. I was talking to one of the members and listening to his pitch (he was a nice guy) and told him I truly was not in a financial position to donate but talked about all the other stuff I do personally, how we got some biodegradable straws at the cafe I work at, and how we each need to be the change when it comes to all the environmental issues that need to be addressed. I just thought this is the way we all need to be to each other, kind and considerate right? As I’m talking I mention how I’m part of the ‘problem’ we are facing in America who faces financial hardships and even said if not for my girlfriend I’d be homeless right now. Sadly his compatriot (probably realizing I wasn’t forking over a donation) decides to chime in ‘that’s not the problem.’ with her head down and tbh it felt passive aggressive. So I explained to her my thought on how the problem was not the homelessness but rather the fact that we don’t truly look out for each other from the top down in society; if only she let me finish my conversation with her coworker... and she said nothing and looked at her phone. Don’t allow your representatives to get caught up in the polarization of all the issues. Im on your side but can’t justify how you are training people to walk around the streets with that sort of an attitude (especially when that person who so quickly can offend was also the one who kindly greeted you; makes you question the character of the individual as well as the institution.) Good luck!

Very disingenuous about their work. The only paid jobs they have in Portland is in fundraising-begging for money on the corner. They talk about their protest off the bridge. However they have done NOTHING in 2016, 2017 and have no local plans for 2018 either. Building and work not handicap accessible or friendly. Also the MINIMUM amount they are authorized to accept is $15 per month for a year-$180. And they will ask you for $240 for the year. People who cannot afgord this are shunned. No one time contributions ever. Pretty much just a money scam.

This Organizational “non profit company” have people walk around talking about a “one time donation” in the most upsetting way. When you least expect it you are being charged month after month. Never though I’d be scammed but of course as a college student trying to get by, people try to get the best of you.

Scam. I would give this place a negative value review if I could. They just mught well do good things for the planet, but somewhere underlying is a scheme to make huge profits. It's sad to see this lack of integrity from a so called trusted "charity". The person I dealt with in Portland, Or acted like my card didn't go through and apparently kept my cc info and signed me up for monthly donation without my authorization. Scam.

Greenpeace cherishes their workers just as their volunteers. Clear and careful communications have been implemented at every meeting I attended the last 5 years. It is an excellent environmental organization often working in the background of a local action to strengthen the front-running NGOs, without ever sharing that particular bit of information. Plus Greenpeace puts its money where it's most needed -- in the people to battle America's attitude of profit above people and planet.
