Wonderful little gem with decent parking. Might bring your bug spray. The mosquitoes are pretty thick in the surrounding woods & hiking trails. Unless there is rain this week, there may not be any swimming next weekend. It's flow is dependent on the rain 100%. Weekend before last had a great flow, but lots of debris. Last weekend, the flow was gone and what was left was essentially a swimming hole.

Gorgeous hike and creek entry point. There’s plenty of swimming spots deep and not deep on this trail. Keep in mind that the trail is partially blocked by trees. After the blockage, it gets really hairy. The trail is thin and climbing through lots of rocks and tree roots. It is not an easy walking hike for many! Bring hiking shoes. After a short 15 minute walk through the cliff side, we discovered beautiful views and place for us to hang out. Loved it!

Beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of people hiking, running, biking, and rock climbing, but certainly not even close to crowded; most areas felt more on the "secluded" end. Had a (non-venomous) snake cross in between my child and I on the path which was fun to observe, as well as seeing a skink.

Some fun, very accessible, climbing. If the creek has water in it, best to approach from the west trailhead near Tacodeli. If it's dry, the Gus Fruh Barton Creek Greenbelt trailhead is very close by across the creek.

So far I'd say that the trail to Gus Fruh climbing rock from the east side of the creek is the most challenging I've been to in Austin, and the most fun. We did this hike a few days ago after the snow had melted and it was muddy as hell but definitely worth the effort! We shimmied across a 5in sliver of rock over a 30ft drop to get to this spot in the photo. Super dope.
