Went with a large group and they accommodated us very well. Very happy with the quality and variety of the meats available. Service was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go here again and do recommend making a reservation because it helped cut our wait time. You do have to have your full party present to be seated

Highly recommend! We LOVED the selection of meats and the huge portions! The sauces and banchan were good. Bustling atmosphere, service was great. The staff was kind, attentive and skillfully handled the grilling. It was such an enjoyable experience. 🙌🏼 Just a couple of things to consider when planning to visit. - Make a reservation. We waited for about 45 minutes for a table for two on a Sunday evening, BUT once you are seated, things move very fast, and we were grilling in no time! - Valet parking is available. It’s $5 if you pay by cash, $6 if using Venmo. A good option to have, as parking can be tricky.

Hae Jang Chon has been one of my main go-to spots for AYCE KBBQ in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles for many years now - dating back to my college days! It remains one of my favorite options to this day, and I recently had another great dinner here during a visit! Be aware that there will likely be a wait when you arrive, especially on a weekend night! They call out names that have been added to a list in the restaurant as tables become available, so be sure to stay nearby! Once inside and seated, however, I've always loved the warm and welcoming feel of the dining space. It's a bit of a squeeze between tables, but spacious enough that it never feels uncomfortable. The KBBQ itself here is GREAT - premium cuts of meat that always cook very well. I also love some of the side items, such as the corn cheese and steamed egg bowl, always bubbling hot and super soothing going down. I also appreciate that the service here is efficient while still being attentive - they don't hover, but will come by and help you out with cooking the meats or add some char to the top of items like the corn cheese. For dinner, the AYCE is currently around $43.99. Considering the quality and the enjoyability of the experience, I find it to be a reasonably affordable price. I love regularly visiting Hae Jang Chon, and I highly recommend!

Excellent AYCE KBBQ like $45/person comes with a variety of meats, some marinated, and plentiful delicious side dishes. Outstanding service above all else, hands down. They are not short on staff, and everyone is fantastic. They grill your food for you, so you don’t have to worry about it. Parking is difficult. I think they offer valet. I parked a few blocks away and walked.

What activities can you enjoy at Hae Jang Chon Korean BBQ Restaurant that make it perfect for group meetups? This restaurant’s core activity is the interactive Korean BBQ grilling experience. Unlike conventional dining where food arrives plated and ready to eat, here you participate directly in the cooking—or more precisely, the staff grills the meat for you on the signature smooth stone grills embedded in every table. This creates both a fun and engaging atmosphere as groups watch their selections come to life on the grill and savor different cuts of high-quality USDA Choice and Prime beef, pork belly, chicken, and an array of fresh seafood such as squid, octopus, and shrimp. The stone grilling method uniquely enhances the flavors and offers a cleaner, smokeless cooking process compared to traditional metal grates. Additionally, the meals come with a variety of traditional Korean banchan—small side dishes like kimchi, steamed egg, and seasoned vegetables—that add complexity and balance to the meal. The experience culminates with a much-loved ritual of making kimchi fried rice right on the grill using the meat’s flavorful drippings, turning the final course into an interactive culinary moment your group will remember. This shared cooking and eating process naturally fosters conversation, laughter, and a sense of togetherness, ideal for any group looking to bond.

Why is the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) format at Hae Jang Chon ideal for group gatherings? The AYCE offering allows groups to indulge in a vast selection of premium meats and seafood without limiting anyone’s appetite or preferences. For a fixed price, usually ranging from $37.99 per person during lunch to $43.99 at dinner, guests enjoy access to 27 to 33 different menu items including various beef cuts like short ribs, brisket, steak, and beef belly, as well as pork and seafood options. This generous variety means that even picky eaters or adventurous diners will find their favorites, making it an excellent choice for mixed groups. Since the price is fixed, your group can focus on savoring the experience and trying different flavors without worrying about per-item costs or bill disputes. The set-up also encourages longer, relaxed visits, as you can take your time moving from course to course in a leisurely fashion, perfect for catch-ups, celebrations, or casual hangouts. Furthermore, the professional staff managing the grills ensure good pacing and quality, so your group enjoys a seamless and satisfying dining adventure. The option to include child pricing also allows families to bring their younger members comfortably, making Hae Jang Chon a versatile venue for both friends and families.

This attentive service allows hosts and guests to relax fully and focus on enjoying each other’s company and the food rather than worrying about the mechanics of cooking. Additionally, the festive and smoky ambience created by the stone grills and the sizzling meats enriches the sensory experience, making the meal feel celebratory and special. For groups eager to make a night out of their gathering, Hae Jang Chon’s late closing hours (open until midnight or later on weekends) add convenience, letting you unwind without time pressures. These elements combine to create a highly suitable setting for casual gatherings, birthday parties, or friendly get-togethers with a dynamic yet relaxed vibe.

Second, the communal grilling experience is engaging and immersive, turning every meal into a shared event rather than solo dining, which is especially appealing for social meetups and family occasions. Third, guests consistently praise the staff’s expertise and hospitality, who not only prepare the meats expertly but also guide diners through efficient and smooth meal pacing. For groups planning meetups here, it’s wise to arrive early or be prepared to wait, which can be turned into part of the social experience by gathering nearby or coordinating arrivals. Alternatively, weekdays or lunch hours offer shorter waits and a slightly reduced price point for the AYCE menu. The restaurant also offers valet parking during evening hours, although street parking is available but limited at peak times, so planning transport ahead is advisable. Despite these considerations, most visitors agree that the wait and logistic planning are well worth the satisfying and convivial meal that follows, making Hae Jang Chon a destination worth anticipating for any group gathering.

How does the traditional Korean BBQ dining style here enhance the overall group experience? Korean BBQ is not just about eating but about sharing an experience. At Hae Jang Chon, the traditional style using stone grills allows each group to actively engage in cooking while enjoying the smoky aromas and sizzle right at their table. This method encourages diners to take turns selecting meats, passing around chopsticks, and assembling lettuce wraps, which strengthens social interaction and provides a memorable sensory experience. It fosters a sense of teamwork and celebration, turning the meal into an event rather than a routine dining situation. The addition of authentic Korean side dishes and the final step of making kimchi fried rice on the grill seals the experience with a flavorful climax everyone can share. This ritualistic aspect of Korean BBQ is ideal for groups, as it naturally encourages slow-paced dining, conversation, and collective enjoyment—exactly what you want in a friendly or family meetup setting.
