I highly recommend Tonya Garreaud's yoga classes and Jewel Yoga. Tonya's sequences are thoughtful and she takes care of each and every student in her classes. Tonya's teachings extend beyond the mat. She skillfully integrates teachings on well-being and philosophy, challenging me to become the best version of myself. She also offers workshops for beginning, intermediate, and advanced practitioners and offers mentorship to teachers. Her retreats are also delightful. I'm grateful to have Tonya as my teacher. Jewel Yoga has a robust offering of classes, workshops and invites senior Iyengar yoga teachers each year for weekend workshops. If you are interested in a studio with a community of dedicated practitioners, then Jewel Yoga is for you!

My favorite yoga studio in Portland — the teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, and they actually teach how to get into, hold, and get out of each pose. I’d done yoga for over a decade before starting here, but I have never felt myself improve so quickly. If you are looking to develop and deepen your yoga practice, this is the place for you.

Iyengar yoga is life changing and will be in my life forever. Jewel yoga has amazing instructors, focused on long-term health of both the body and mind. I've loved every instructor I've ever had at Jewel. The best way to come out of COVID isolation is to attend in person classes in an unsuspecting, beautiful space in downtown Portland.

I started with Cindy's Level 1 last term & am now taking Tonya's Level 1-2. I had done Iyengar yoga in San Francisco where used to live & feel very lucky to have found a new studio here in Portland. I really like the instructors I've met & the students I've talked to were very welcoming. I am challenged & inspired. Thank you for existing!

A yoga class here always leaves me feeling balanced, lengthened, stronger, peaceful, and more supple. The practice is what you make of it. The instructors are very experienced, caring, and talented. Great facility and props. Jewel gets my highest recommendation.
