Decent hotel located right on the water. It's a large place though, so your room might be pretty far from reception. Staff were helpful 24/7, but several in my party had trouble with key cards not working. The gas "campfires" along the water and the "beach" were a fun touch, but you can't actually go swimming in the water. They do have a nice outdoor pool. Not a lot nearby though and a the place is a good bit away from downtown and the main tourist spots. The free bike service is nice. Seems to be a popular event venue.

We arrived at the hotel at 2 PM and were told an upgrade wasn’t available. They said they’d try to get us in early and would call when the room was ready — that call never came. We were also told a staff member would give us a tour and explain the events and offers, but that never happened either. When I followed up and asked, no one knew what I was talking about. Check-in time was 4 PM, but we didn’t get our room until 4:30. When we finally got in, the bathtub was visibly dirty — completely unacceptable. The next morning, room service was knocking and trying to enter the room at 8 AM without any prior notice. The hotel advertised spa services like manicures and pedicures, which we tried to book, only to be told they don’t actually offer them. There was a small shop on site, but the self-checkout kiosk was missing the entire three days we stayed. When we asked the front desk for help with a purchase, they had no clue how to process it. The restaurant was another letdown. Food wasn’t available all day as advertised, and service was either incredibly slow or nonexistent unless you managed to flag someone down. Once you got help, the staff was friendly, but that didn’t make up for the disorganization. Finally, the beds listed as queen-sized felt more like oversized full beds — not comfortable at all. Overall, this stay was full of unmet expectations and poor service. I would not recommend this hotel and definitely won’t be returning.

I would avoid this hotel if you can. This is a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. The only 4 star thing is its view of the Shelter Island marina. There are no elevators! If your room is not on the first floor you will have to carry your luggage to the second floor yourself like a motel 6. The staff won't help. The breakfast was good but on the weekend it was $36 for the buffet per person and the only other option was to buy food from the kiosk in the lobby. There are no shops or other restaurants nearby so you will have to Uber everywhere. If you bring a car the daily parking fee is about an additional $46 which is on top of the additional $40 resort fee. The rooms were just mediocre at best. The bathroom doors are sliding barn doors that offer little privacy. The shower was wimpy but maybe that is a California thing? I could go on with details but I would need to write pages. Unless you are stuck staying there for a wedding move on to the next resort. Otherwise you will be saying I should have heeded the warning. ****Reaction to manager comments: 1. Someone should have asked me upon check-in or better yet when I made the reservation if carrying my luggage up a flight of stairs would be a problem. If such a small percentage of rooms had no elevator the hotel should have provided carrying service for those rooms. To be told they couldn't help was rude and inconsiderate. 2. The second hotel we stayed in San Diego did not have a problem with water pressure in the shower. Maybe you should check my room 212. 3. Not everyone wants to eat $36 per person worth of food for breakfast. It would have been nice to have a simple breakfast option in the restaurant. It seemed that our only option was to buy something in the lobby kiosk and sit there. I was told the buffet was the only option in the restaurant. It might be nice once in a while but that is a lot to spend every day. 4. The barn doors in the bathroom are just bad. 5. A 20 to 25 minute walk to access any other shops or restaurants is just the definition of a poor location. 6. Resort fees or not optional. They should be added to the price of the room. It is a misleading way to increase the price of the room.

I booked this trip for my wife's birthday. I got a suite and thought it would be nice because it has a private beach. Receptionist said we were by the adults only pool and it had a bar. The bar was closed. The private beach has no water access and is more like a kitty litter beach. Parking cost $50 a day but it is very small and limited parking. We almost didn't get parking twice. The rooms I would not consider a suite. The apps on the TV for room service and check out don't work. The self kiosk in the lobby to check in and out don't work. Very disappointing stay.

This property is lovely. My favorite part is the fully equipped gym and steam room. The staff is so friendly and attentive that it's even more welcoming. It's clean, spacious, organized and the general vibe is pleasant. It's the type of fitness center that makes you want to work out. Kudos to the hiring manager.
