Who knew that beet infused vodka could be so delish! I love the Lenin Drop Beet cocktail! It is best at first when it is really cold before the tiny ice crystals melt. Also the borscht is one of the best I have tasted. It comes out steaming hot. The beef broth, beef stew meat hunks, shredded cabbage and shredded beets are perfect. It seems to have just a hint of clove spice and black pepper. The video has a picture of the steam rising from the borscht soup. The bartenders are very kind. Overall, this is a fine place to start an evening or unwind after a long day.

Have only had the food on a few occasions but I know from the infused vodka that they are doing some authentic food/drink medicine here. I would say that it is a more drink forward establishment than food; yet the curated selection embellishes your mood or craving. Will definitely sink the nail if you know what your hankering for, but at the same time won't drown you in options. They do their adventuring to find you the secret flavor you have yet experienced, so try em out!

The beet vodka is a must try! We had the restaurant week menu which comes with a set of pickled veggies, bread, dumplings and dessert. The pickles are refreshing - liked the beets and carrots. The dumplings are acquired taste. The honey cake was simply too sweet.

A great little neighborhood Russian themed tavern with well conceived, versatile food options. The borscht is a perfect light super on a cold night and piroshki is a nice light snack. They also have a variety of pickled veggie sides. If you're more hungry combining them makes a fuller meal. The honey cake is a great, filling dessert if you have room. The drink options are mostly creative, excellent cocktails, some containing house-made beet vodka. The 'bonfire' is my favorite but they're all great. The horseradish vodka is also great, usually served as a shot. There are also ample non-alcoholic options and a few brews on tap. The staff are consistently great. Very friendly, attentive and efficient. They're happy to discuss the menu and make suggestions. It's the best kind of hole-in-the-wall; a small, darkly-warm cozy space. Sometimes it's crowded and somewhat noisy. This is the only minor downside I can think of.

Oh, boy! Korocha Tavern is a wonderful little bar/restaurant in Wallingford that my partner and I finally discovered! We decided to give it a try, and were we in for a treat! 🌟 First, the cold borscht was so refreshing for the summer - a perfect choice! The pickled cabbage and cucumbers added a nice crunchy and acidic texture and taste to the mouthwatering Vareneki, and the Russian sour cream was simply delicious! Can you imagine Russian dumplings without it? 😋 We also tried the chicken piroshky, and it was a tasty delight! But let me tell you about the star of the show - the Lenin Drop cocktail! It had beet-infused vodka, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup, and holy cow, it’s easily the best drink I’ve had this year! 🍹 Also, let’s not forget about the super nice bartender with those sweet bangs and hair - a true bonus to the already fantastic experience! Super friendly and welcoming! Last but not least, the honey cake was out-of-this-world good! I’ve been to other Russian restaurants in Washington, but Korocha Tavern takes the cake (literally!) for the best honey cake! If you’re up for a delicious and fun time, make sure to visit Korocha Tavern. You won’t regret it! Trust me, the Lenin Drop will make your taste buds dance, and their honey cake will leave you saying “thank you” for days! 🌺 We ordered: Potato and cheese Vareneki 🥟 Pickled cabbage 🥬 Pickles cucumbers 🥒 Cold summer borscht 🥣 Piroshky 🥖 The Lenin Drop 🍹 Honey cake 🍯 🍰
