Here's what people think of La Sirène Soho
As of recent, La Sirène Soho holds a 4.5-star rating based on 631 reviews.
Reviews of La Sirène Soho reveal a generally positive consensus, with an overall rating of around 4.4 to 4.5 stars based on over 600 reviews. Customers frequently praise the restaurant for its authentic and flavorful French cuisine that successfully transports diners to France, mentioning standout dishes like seared foie gras, French onion soup, steak tartare, and the rich, truffle-infused ravioli. Many reviewers highlight the attentive and upbeat service, the charming and cozy ambiance of the interior, and the restaurant's ability to deliver high-quality plates quickly without compromising taste or presentation. Positive comments often emphasize the intimate atmosphere and the unique, personal touches found in the menu – such as playful descriptions and the chef's passionate involvement. The BYOB policy is also appreciated by many as it adds a relaxed and personalized element to the dining experience. On the other hand, some negative reviews point out that the restaurant's expansion from a very tiny BYOB to a larger space serving wine and liquor slightly diluted the original intimate charm. A few diners found the new wine list underwhelming compared to the BYOB flexibility and noted some inconsistency in certain dishes. Additionally, some felt the ambience changed after expansion, making it feel less cozy than before. However, the majority of feedback remains highly favorable, especially for those seeking a genuine taste of French Southern cuisine in New York. Overall, La Sirène Soho retains a strong reputation as a beloved French eatery that combines quality, tradition, and an approachable, authentic vibe.

One of the more famous French places in the city and finally tried it out. Food is very good! The escargot and cold served foie gras were very tasty. We also tried the daily catch which was a red snapper, and the skin was so crispy. The house hanger steak is also cooked to perfection with a great sauce. And last but definitely not the least, I love the delicate candied floss on the cream puff, definitely a highlight and a good presentation of patisserie.

Really great French restaurant! To be honest, I was surprised at how much I liked it. I like French food but I tend to find it a little bit... traditional, not a lot of places stand out. The food here was great, it was definitely one of the best French restaurants I've been to and I've been to Paris! I went here with a friend and we tried several dishes. The standouts to me were the baked goat cheese tart (delicious!), the French ravioli, the filet mignon, and the banana crème brûlée. The filet mignon was probably one of the best steaks I've had. It was perfectly cooked medium rare, very well seasoned, and very tender. I love all things banana so the banana crème brûlée was fantastic. Prices are a little on the high side so it is more of a special treat type of place. I don't think it's overpriced because the food was very well made and clearly had a ton of effort and care put into it. I think it's definitely worth it but it is not a cheap meal. Service was great as well, we were in a bit of a rush because we had a show to go to after, and they very accommodating. Only other thing to mention, the website says that for credit cards they only take AMEX but when I was there I overheard someone asking and they were told that they take all major credit cards. Might be a recent change? It is worth calling to make sure. Definitely recommend, and I hope to be back sometime!

La Serene is hands down our favorite neighborhood spot ,a classic French bistro with charm, warmth, and consistently wonderful food. The dishes are beautifully executed, with that timeless Parisian flair. Their seared foie gras is, in our opinion, the best in New York City ,rich, velvety, and unforgettable. We came back yesterday to try their Restaurant Week menu and were honestly so impressed ,it’s such a great value, and the quality hasn’t skipped a beat. We had a small hiccup with one empty escargot (it happens!), but the kitchen immediately prepared extra three for us, which was such a thoughtful touch. That kind of care really says everything about the team here. Service is always fast, kind, and flexible. They truly make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and gently romantic ,it feels like a little escape to Paris, right in SoHo. If you’re looking for an authentic, unfussy, and truly delightful French dining experience, La Serene is the one. We recommend it to all our friends and always come back ourselves🦪🍷🥖 Oh and always ask for extra veggie plate for the main course! They are the best!

Wow… just wow. One of the best meals I’ve had in NYC. My best friend and I went for Restaurant Week and devoured everything. I’m still dreaming about the ravioli and escargot from the appetizer selection. Filet mignon and hanger steaks were chefs kiss. Even the dessert was very light and dreamy. Honestly one of the best deals for Restaurant Week ~~ perfect for trying a bunch of dishes, especially if you’re with a friend or group. Even outside of Restaurant Week, I’ll be back. Service was amazing, restaurant was clean. Already excited to go back!

So good. I was hoping for a good restaurant week in SoHo and this exceeded expectations. The food was excellent and the service/ambience was wonderful as well. The truffle ravioli are to die for and the escargot/both steaks (hanger & filet) were delectable. I couldn’t recommend it more. My bestie and I were so satisfied with the meal and the sweet treat at the end was the perfect finale (the mango sorbet was great).
