The chicken pop-up at Rachel’s Ginger Beer serves a solid chicken sandwich and fries. I usually get the mild chicken sandwich—it has a good cayenne-style chili flavor with just the right amount of heat. Definitely a reliable option if you’re in the area.

I got the plant based fried “chicken” and it was so delicious; I got it with a side of corn! I love a good fried chicken sandwich, but was curious about their non-meat option. Definitely would go back to try a real fried chicken sandwich.

I went to this place on a food tour last year, and now every time I'm town, I have to make a stop to get some fried chicken and honey mustard sauce. This chicken is fantastic. It's juicy and tender, and you can choose the spiceness for the breading. I'm also very much a sauce girl, and I could eat buckets of the honey mustard sauce, which has a delightful kick to it that pairs so well with the chicken. I do have to say, the potato mac salad was not my favorite. It didn't taste the same quality as the chicken and it too dry for my tastes. In the future, I'll just stick with getting the chicken. It's right next to the Amazon spheres, so you can watch the crowds while you eat, and they share space with Rachel's Ginger Beer so you can have a tasty drink with your food. (I highly recommend the pink guava Moscow mule.) I'm already looking forward to my next trip to the area.

$20 for a Cold Sandwich and a Side of Gaslighting I came to Ma'Ono and ordered a chicken sandwich. Twenty bucks for a burger, basically. I sat right in front of the kitchen exit by the bar, the exact spot where staff walks out with food. After about 10 to 15 minutes, a cook walked out with a to-go bag in his hand, looked at me, and asked, “Hey, what’s your name?” I said, “Mikey.” He never said, “Here’s your food.” He held the bag like he was scanning the room, looking for someone, not like he was handing it to me. Then he walked away toward the food pickup counter area but never set the bag down. He just stood there for maybe 30 seconds at most. I wasn’t even looking at him at that point because I figured that wasn’t my order. I assumed if it were, he would’ve said something and handed it to me when I gave him my name. But nope. A few moments later, he walked right back and gave it to me. I opened it, and the chicken was cold. I went to the counter and let the staff know. The woman brought it back to the kitchen, and the same chef came out and tried to pin it on me. He said the sandwich had been sitting there for ten minutes and that they would remake it this time, but that I needed to be more careful not to let it sit too long next time. What the actual hell. The sandwich was never sitting there. I was seated right in front of that exact area, and no food had been placed there before or during that whole time. No one else walked up. I saw the whole thing happen in real time. The cook asked my name, walked away like it wasn’t mine, then came back and gave it to me without a word. That is not customer error. That is weird. That is confusing. And it is one hundred percent on them. And the cherry on top? After I calmly explained all this to the front clerk, the cook came back and gave me a full-on stare down. Like he was about to start something over a sandwich. Like I’m the one who did something wrong. What kind of insecure energy is that? Yeah, alright, bud. Tough look. Too bad you're stuck serving food with that attitude. No excuse for it. This wasn’t just a cold sandwich. It was a cold, dishonest, but n my nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu disrespectful experience. Total lack of professionalism, accountability, or common decency. If this is how you treat paying customers, don’t be surprised when they stop showing up. For management: This was the staff working at this location on Monday, July 21st, 2025, at 1 PM.
