We visited in a Sunday afternoon. It’s a great rink for beginners. The staff were friendly and even help take pics of our family. The rink was in a great location it wasn’t congested at all, and we found free parking. I wish they had beverages on site that would have been nice. If you are looking to skate for a great price and to beat the crowds, give it a shot. They even have a nice warming area.

They just opened up for 2020! You can bring your own skates for free, or rent a pair there. They've currently got a 50 person max capacity for covid-19 reasons, so you might have a bit of a wait. Pleasant rink otherwise, with nice views of the UChicago campus!

Wonderful local skating rink in Hyde Park! They have rentals for cheap (they aren’t the best skates but they get the job done). I like the booking of time slots as well. They usually have food, although with the evolving COVID situation that hasn’t always been the case

The rink itself is great! However, the safety patrols are utterly useless. They allowed 5+ children to penguin slide *on their bellies* across the ice- where 30-50 other people with BLADES ON THEIR FEET are trying to skate. Chaotic and dangerous. But, $free.99 if you bring your own skates. Also, no one even checked to see if I had a ticket?? I had one but just basically walked onto the ice. Parks department- please train the rink employees.

I love this rink use to skate here back in 1967 I didn't know they charge because it was open to public and free to skate everyone was friendly back then and it didn't have an inclose rink it was the whole park that was ice you could get out the car and go. Right on to the rink with your skates on. Times changed. But check it out.
