Maybe I’m just not a murder mystery girlie but I wanted to be somewhere else the entire time. Honestly, the actors and how into their roles were the only saving grace for this for me. My mom and I were relieved neither of us were picked to be suspects; I think I would’ve walked right out if that had happened. You can call me a Debbie Downer, but I was happy to just sit back, eat my food, and listen versus get up multiple times and get back to my seat only to eat cold food. Yes, that actually happened. We got our first “3 minute investigation time” (it’s not actually 3 minutes, more like 8-10 minutes) and the servers had just set our entrees down at our table. We were hungry and wanted to dig into our food. But no, we had to get up and ask strangers questions they didn’t even know the answers to. The biggest issue with how the process is set up is that these random people are the ones who ultimately are the ones who help you solve the mystery. The only thing is is that they don’t even know all the answers so each suspect is quite literally making stuff up if they so choose to). One of the suspects we interrogated told us he was making stuff up because he didn’t want to just say “I don’t know” when people would ask him pre-selected questions that were on our dollar bills. It was cool that the actors had the audience participating but it wasn’t in the right way. I thought it would’ve been cool if there was a big clue or two that would be discovered as the night went on or something, but instead it was just get up and ask people questions and hope these random Joes can handle it. I just think it’s not a strong model if you’re relying on the randomly chosen people who attend the event with you to entertain and help carry out the mystery. One of the suspects clearly was not into it and every time he spoke to the crowd during a “hearing” he’d be kind of quiet and awkward. Which is the prime reason why my mom and I were SO relieved we didn’t get chosen to be a suspect. We got lucky because almost every suspect was entertaining and actually got into it, but I feel like not every time you’ll get all these hidden actors from people. Food was pretty mid but at least the servers were more attentive than other reviews are talking about. Cocktail prices are amazing (in this city) for the size of the glasses.
